Somali-Ethiopians or those with family there, I have a question...

I get the impression that you guys don't really care to get invested/involved in Ethiopian politics and the struggle between the elites of the top three groups (amara, oromo fi tigre); but what do you guys think about the current issues? The war in amara? the devastation in tigray and their attempts to recover, rebuild and etc? do you guys feel you have no stake in the issues, so you don't care? or....?

That is karma for the attrocities that was committed in the ogaden region for the past 60 years where jointly oromo, amhara, tigray participated in ethnoc cleansing of somali population as well as displacing them.

One thing I dont get it is why oromoa are not supporting abye wjo os lesser evil compared to fano extremists?

How is it possible that ENDF has been defeated in amhara region?

Life is transient my friend, the situation of Galbeed is temporary, and inshallah we will take it back. It is still in our hands but I would like to see it incorporated into Somalia who knows, maybe in my lifetime.

I make dua that Ethiopia collapses.

Those were soldiers though, who are essentially paid mercenaries of the state, not civilians.
We do not generalize as Muslims, rather, we blame those responsible.

I think Oromo's are patiently watching to see the outcome, right now, OLA is continuing to expand operations actually, for the first time in a long time, new units are operating in arsi and hararghe. New soldiers are graduating from camps. The OLA is growing quietly but surely.
The true war begins if the amara armed groups try to expand out of their region, once they secure control over it, which is very likely to occur, because their ultimate goal is power.

ENDF of today is not the same it once was. Many of the best soldiers perished in tigray, or were pushed out of the army (the most experience ones were of course, tigrayans) prior to the war in tigray.
it seems many of the soldiers now are conscripts from the southern nations and others were little experience. fighting in those amara highlands is difficult and the amara's have the advantage, especially since it's their turf.

It is a very troubling conflict, which shall adversely impact Somalis, and Somalia, as it deteriorates, considering that vast border with Somali Galbeed, following it as it unfolds, and quite concerned for the Horn. I must admit I am not as concerned, or attached to its inner goings as I am to the Sudanese conflict, which perhaps is due to history, and faith --- [we] are naturally more concerned about, and with conflicts involving Muslims than not.

What is your reading of the conflict?

Quite a lot of Amhara are Muslims. Perhaps 20-25%, which comes up to 5-6 million people.

True, as are Oromos, and others, but still I think it is that old historical conflict between the nations, which influences one's sentiment.

Well, abiy maybe bad, but what others want to do, will show. perhaps more churches in jigjiga and harar, while you cannot build masajid in their lands-- so while the govts and their opponents are mostly christians and some muslims; the end goal is....?

Fair enough but are you hawiye from somalia proper, or a hawiye from within ethiopia?
A Somali is Somali to you, mate.

Do elaborate, what is the end goal?

Not really. A Somali from within ethiopia will at least consider the different desires of the fighting groups-as in, what abiy's govt want and will do in somali region and within ethiopia, or if he goes, what the next group will bring or want-which will mean, civil war between oromo and amara, and that means, potentially, way more immigrants flooding to and through, your land...

They are not immigrants. Now, back to the original question: what is the end goal?

Ethiopians would be the ones being migrants bro, I'm not talking about Somalis in Ethiopia.
What do you think the amhara hardliners want, if they get power? I'm sure you know.
but that will mean a huge civil war first, perhaps disintegration of the state/army/etc.
because the oromo, for one, will not tolerate such a thing. neither will the sidama. and others who believe in federalism. somalis may just watch with bobcorn and drinks from the sidelines lol

What is your survival plan, as an Oromo, to delay, if unable to prevent the inevitable?

I do not think they will be successful, unless they build alliances throughout the country, which is how the tplf came to power in 1990/1991. they had allies in amara region, oromia, etc.
now, they have no allies in oromia or in tigray. time shall tell though.
right now the OLA/OLF is actually building up its army, and just started operations in the east and in arsi. so it's interesting: ultra-nationalists may come to power in the two biggest/most influential states, which means the chances for bigger wars are increasing too.
