I was actually conflicted about that thread but i think you did the right thing as well.
If you didn't press charges then they would've gotten away with jumping you and that's not acceptable. If you went and jumped them, then I am completely certain that they would've put you in jail, even if your family begged them like theirs did yours. So all in all i think you did the correct thing.
