I actually dont have much negative to say about polygamy but Its people who take advantage of it resulting in broken families
I seen to many that practice it the wrong way one that look for single moms on welfare who got their own house so they dont have to provide for her
And the ones marry a new one and neglect the first wife
Sometimes the relationship is mutual and the single mom may think by inviting the man she can control and use for her sexual needs is better than sleeping around with men she is not married to. Staying put as a single young mom whilst her sexual needs are unmet is a tough option.
Saxib, Somalis have a difficult life in many ways. The ones back home have the best opportunity to live with dignity even though they don't see it that way. They have plenty of opportunities to meet other Somalis and marry from them. That opportunity is not available for Somalis in the west most of the time. Poverty is not bad when people have strong faith and good culture that protects their dignity and identity. Somalis in the west including myself live with instability.
I can tell you, despite the material success in the west for many Somalis and doing better than Somalis back home, majority of us in the west are very unhappy. The only exception are the delusionals who think leaving the culture behind or receiving a welfare check is equivalent to being successful.
I count to the time when I am boarding a plane never to look back.
