Restoring Somalia

Have you guys ever thought of the way you could make Somalia a better place? Like step-by-step solutions for the problems that are facing us right now. Where do you think we should start? What actions have you taken personally that could better shape the country? I'm interested in what the new generation living abroad thinks about how to resolve the issue in their country. People always say the new generation would change things, they would come with new innovative ideas. They'd be more nationalistic and less reliant on qabils. They'd bring much needed skills and build the country (i hope). Let's hear what you guys think.

take every civilian and knock them out until they forget what qabil they are part of.

currently people in the country don't care about the country, they care about their qabil.

Which is why Somaliland is decently successful because they are all a single qabil meaning the advancement of the qabil = the advancement of the whole country

Get a dictator that will forcefully crush all dissent.

Things will have to get much worse in the country to eventually become civilized.

Why did you lose hope?
There are too many things in succession that have to go right. The current government had widespread support yet they've made zero progress and I personally don't think any government in the future will have as much support at the start as these guys did.

Secondly, It's impossible to forget what happened in the civil war. No nation can thrive without a strong army and I can't imagine Somalia ever building a successful national army due to tribalism. A nation needs an army/law system/united MPs yet Somalis will never accept being ruled by someone from a particular tribe. Look at the most recent protests in the capital - a struggling nation and people are willing to destroy it in the name of protests. Confederalism is probably the only solution and I'm doubtful about that.

We had a dictator previously, do you think having one again would resolve anything?

Yes, a strong man dictator is the best way moving forward for our society just like every African and Arab society, the people are stupid to go another way. The reign of the dictator was the best time in Somalia's history.

I doubt it ever happens, the Somali people are too stupid and the foreigners getting cozy in our country (Ethiopians, Kenyan , UAE, Turkey) won't ever allow it.

Only way for Somalia to be restored is to genocide the savage qabiils and let the civilized people work together as one

Qabilism is just a symptom of our real underlying problems... poverty and lack of opportunities for social mobility.

Focus on developing the economy over everything else.

Create laws that would make it just as easy as the US to start, run, grow a business and protect it from bad actors.

Fund skills training through whatever means available and do it strategically by hiring foreign expats to take on the roles you can't domestically develop yet.

If just 20% of our population is able to increase their productivity to $20/hr we'd have a 120 billion dollars GDP ...i.e. near the top 5 in Africa.

Our current GDP per hour worked is around $1 at the moment... :wow1:

This doesn't take remittance into account so it's probably much lower.

One of the best comments ive read on this site. Qabilism is just a symptom of the poverty.

:lawd: all you have to do is collect the thiefs and fats cats of Maxmuud saleeban , habar gidir and some "iiidooors dir yibir".
Put them in prison or outcast them..and Simalia would be peaceful.

Exactly what Siad Barre did Allah ha uu naxriisto.

That's a spurious association imo. Focusing on the economy is what the current government have tried to do yet it's difficult to do well without an educated population and strict governance in which Somalia has neither. Al-Shabaab will just collect taxes from these businesses which will discourage them - security is paramount. Somalia was doing relatively well compared to other african nations yet qabilism was still rife so it's little to do with the economy.
