Omar Fateh running for Mayor of Minneapolis

Wow I went on Twitter to see them all calling him ugly. He’s not ugly at all to me

Confused Little Girl GIF
I never make comments about people's appearance because I understand that a lot of it is fixed in motion however these wignats who all look like incel retards are the first to mock the appearance of someone else

That’s how you know he made it. Better than Jacob
How?? AF and other “based” conservatives keep stalking us. That doesn’t mean the guy is pulling any numbers or has any solid policies.

I’ll do some research on him when I get a chance and report back, but so far, I’m not impressed at all.
I don't advocate for disastrous policies like he does for rent control which will decimate the housing market and restrict new builds and private landlord ownership, which will make housing more expensive. And I dont push for policing budget cuts in a city where crime is much higher than state and national averages and exploded after the 2020 cuts. No wonder Minneapolis' population has decreased. Leftists like him are a disaster to communities and families.
You’re mixing two different things. Extreme left policies like defund the police and unchecked homelessness, 900 genders and etc are clearly BS policies.
But centrist-progressive have a lot of smart policies. Just look at Austin. Its housing market success is largely due to progressive-led zoning reforms that allowed more multifamily and mixed-use buildings in single-family zones. Increasing supply and helping to lower costs.

Violent crime and unemployment are nearing all-time lows.

Still, thanks to corporate greed, rents are still rising fast. My brother lives down there,
and more and more people are ending up living in their cars. Some form of rent control will soon be necessary to prevent widespread homelessness.

I see a bright future for centrist-progressives if they maintain their momentum and get rid of the extreme far-left policies.

I don’t think he’ll win. He just looks too awkward. He needs a serious appearance change to stand a chance. Losing the goatee, cutting his hair shorter, and hitting the gym would be a start. Also, he needs to work on his posture and facial expressions.

It's even worse than that meme. Twitter is one unhinged platform.

It actually shows what makes Somalis an easy target is the misperception of our homeland, refugee/immigrant status, Muslim identity, African/or black identity and our unapologetic visibility and stance. We are like the ultimate boogie man.

Actually its a habesha on discord who made this drawing, but somalis pushed it for fkd
It’s actually an old 4chan drawing of Barkhad Abdi that got buried for a while. Some Ethiopian trolls probably dug it up later to weaponize it, like you said. A reverse image search links it back to there, 4chan made caricatures of Jews, Black people, and tons of other groups, and you can even see their typical Black caricature in one of the tweets above

@Cartan Boos is right in a sense it was a Somali Twitter user named FredoZimbabwe who originally created the 'How do you know I’m Somali?' meme. It started with an edited photo of an NBA player with an exaggerated forehead. I remember it well because it even got shared by one of the Beta Squad guys on IG. If you scroll back far enough on AJ Shabeel’s Instagram, you’ll find a post from 2018.

That meme faded by 2020, and the version you’re seeing now got revived by TikTok troll accounts last year. They mixed it with that old Barkhad Abdi caricature and pushed it as something new.

Just to be clear, this isn’t some one-sided hatefest . Twitter is a chaotic platform filled with trolls and bots. It doesn’t reflect the views of everyday people. Most of the loudest voices aren't even from Minneapolis, where he's actually running for major as a city that's about 85% socially democratic, not some right-wing stronghold. So a lot of the outrage is just misplaced noise.

On the ground, he's getting a ton of real support and endorsements from people in his constituency:

I disagree he is running on a popular platform and endorsing policies that is supported by most people in Minneapolis that lean more socialist democratic and he ran on the same campaign as a state senator which won him a seat and he got re-elected as well . Where he actually push for higher funding for education and secured minimum wage and labour protection laws for drivers.

He also built a broad coalition as his supporting base as well from across the city.

When it's all said and done he might create a greater upset than Zohran Mamdani.
