ID cards are not enough as some of them have found a way to sheegad their way efficiently with flawless accents and fake abtiris. We need to get a census but that needs to be done using clans, who can verify their members.

They can make up abtiris, let's say an Oromo was a maid in a Somali house, maybe she overheard and memorised abtiris and family names.

Like many of you, I had or might still have some form of dislike for our cousins to the west however this doesn't mean that I'll become a racist nationalist. It makes me sad knowing that only Oromo migrants can unite Somalis regardless of politics. They're in every tuulo, every farm, every town, every city and even in the miyi/baadiyo I see no reason to hate on them for seeking a livelihood or tahriib away from Ethiopia. As long as 60% of them are Muslim I welcome them to my land, I might have some dislike towards Oromos but I'm willing to put nationalism behind as it stands in the way of Islam.

Of course racism is haram and bad. I am not racist as it means I feel superior to someone else based on my features. I am just skeptical and alert. I am aware of my fellow Somali muslims living at the ethnic border between Somalis and Oromos or inside the oromo regions that Somalis historically lived in have been subjected to genocide, ethnic cleansing women, children, old and every innocent person massacred. There has been found mass graves too. This is why I am so skeptical. I have discussed this with many oromo muslims online and they are staunch ethnonationalist who supports Oromumma/Oromo Nationalism. Not only this they support oromo militias like OLA who massacred a whole school of Amharas living inside Oromo region. The oromo male who was lynched in Bossaso was done because he claimed all the somali cities to be belonging to Oromos. Of course as Muslims we must act upon our faith and help our muslim brothers and sisters in need but we should without a doubt or a for second lower our awareness. The other important thing is we cannot sustain and help all Oromo refugees. Oromos are more than 30 million and we Somalis are already in need, they have to wait before our close one are taken care of. Islam teaches us to take care and support those closest to us.

This. Somalis in Ethiopia are a fraction of Oromos in terms of population but we still haven't converted to Christianity or adopt Amharaic like half the Oromos living in Ethiopia. Habesha toke your capital, forced you to speak their language, convert to their religion and intermarriages has become the norm. Oromo irrespective of religion are the weak link. Habesha be it Amhara or Tigrayans always use them as Canon fodder in their ward. He'll even Somalis under Barre used the Oromo to destabilize Ethiopia.


Oromos are in limbo they are not organized enough to form a clear cut manifesto/agenda but they are not divided enough to go their own separate way, split into smaller groups that is more cohesive and could actually amount to something and make a difference.
