I have never seen this style of Somali jewellery before, at least in this form (beaded necklaces)

I mean, I’ve seen reer Djibouti wear beaded headbands often but never in this form. And the necklaces do look very quintessentially Somali.

Secondly , what are these belts?!!
There is a silver one and an aleel (seashell) one

a closer look at the silver (?) one.

The design looks like Somali Xirsi, armlets and earrings. But I’ve never seen this before nor do I know what it’d be called.

Does anyone know what these accessories are called so I can further research?!

Walaal kaalay :sass2:

1) white cotton sheet, wrap to make Guuntino
2) Alindi garbasaar, fold accordingly and tie around waist to hold Guuntino together
3) Buy Xirsi necklaces from silver smiths in Somalia/Daxal website/ buy auctioned somali artefacts and layer
4) when I find out what that aleel belt is, I’ll hook you up

The headband ones? They’re so pretty, probably hard to get outside of Djibouti but maybe not as hard to make yourself.

Somali headpieces are so rare for some reason when we have a lot to work with.
