However these men want you to submit to them like Somali culture submits to Arab culture, and your clear rejection of that and insistence of being equal and making demands on the basis of that means that their low standards do not suffice.

This does tie into how abusive behavior is socially reproduced in Somali and other patriarchal societies, but it is probability question and not a law of nature.

The statement is therefore not entirely true due to men like women being individuals with conflicting beliefs and that they can change over time when either the beliefs are re-examined or situations call for it.

Alhamdulillah my mother was never shouted at, hit or even insulted by my father. He was always kind, generous and patient with my mother. I wish to be the same example as my father with my wife.
