Puntland Highway Authority Infrastructure Thread

Keepin Southies in check since 1998
Since it will be constructed by the Chinese owned CCECC, it will be completed swiftly Inshallah.

I hope it will start a policy to link coastal towns to our major cities.

Garacad to Gaalkacyo
Banderbeyla to Qardho
Qandala to Bosaso.

Specially the road from Qandala to Bosaso is super depressing. Look at the detour people have to make to reach a town that's only at 80km distance.

This is the reason why ISIS was able to capture Qandala! Northeastern Bari completing cut off from the rest of PL and vulnerable to terrorists (foreign and domestic)!

Puntland screwed up big time by neglecting the northeast!
In 2012, Foreign Arab terrorists brought weapons and material to make explosives to a village east of Qandala!

Seizure in Qandala, Puntland, October 2012

46. On 17 October 2012, members of the local community living near Qandala, in the Bari region of north-eastern Somalia, informed Puntland authorities in Bosaso that a “fiberglass dhow of the type known to originate from Yemen” landed at a natural bay called “Butiyalo”.28 Five males disembarked and unloaded a significant cargo of arms and ammunition. Puntland authorities alleged that the dhow had evaded capture and disappeared.29 The Monitoring Group was not shown evidence of the type of ship used.

47. Puntland security forces launched an operation that resulted in the capture of 37 sacks. These bags contained a large number of munitions and explosive equipment, including:

  • 220 PG-7 rounds
  • 304 PG-7 propellant charges (boosters)
  • Five rolls of detonating cord
  • 500 electric detonators
  • 137 kg of TNT
  • One 73 mm gun (2A28 Grom)
  • 230 hand-grenade detonators
  • Two bags of ammonium nitrate

The roadway project that will be connecting the coastal towns Qandala and Caluula to Bosaso was launched two days ago. The construction should begin soon, in shaa Allah. A trip between two cities that are ~80km apart takes currently almost 14 hrs because of the lack of tunnels through the mountains.

Why not make a tunnel through the mountains to connect Qandala & Bosaso?

Needs skills sxb and $$$. We could probably bring in the Chinese who constructed Bosaso airport if we secure the funds

The Chinese have already been assigned for the job. For the last 5 months they have been coming back and forth assessing the place. It is the same company that will do the Garowe to Eyl road as well.

In Sha Allah they will build is quick as the Bosaso airport.

This piece of infrastructure is also vital in destroying those maniacs hiding in those mountains.
The only downside is that we have given them more rights to fish in our seas, so we might see an increase in pirates again.:kanyeshrug:

If it's even done we will probably wait 3 years for it and then it will crash in on itself and be discarded while the next president does his own 'igu sawirs' to keep the people hopeful of his presidency and their memories forgot all the previous projects 90% that never came thru. Wadaagsin anyone? That Garowe Resort, apparently 10 million, umm wanna go more? That Cement Plant Saboo or whatever it was called!!!

That's my sentiment too but for the last few years every large project has happened within a reasonable period

Wadaagsin, That Garowe Resort for 10 million dollars, what about Saboo Cement Plant, that turkish hospital in garowe which was gonna be as good as the one mogadishu as CAMEY put it. I was so excited about that a 40 Million project? Hey guys lets name all the projects you remember that never went thru. I remember reading this article that PL is the land of incomplete projects. They lay the foundation stone down and then that's it, they lay down another in a few months somewhere else and the cycle continues. The opening ceremonies are far less then the iga sawir foundation rock!!!

Somalia needs to stop asking for others to build their infrastructural needs, we should invest in cement factories and schools and build our own roads and tunnels at the very least
