through the ballot. GX split their vote between udub and ucid, HA between udub and kulmiye, HJ purely kulmiye and gadbursi purely udub. Since gadbursi > HJ it is a no brainer that udub would win.

The main reason for sland creation wasn't that because when the government fell SNM and USC when aidid lead them wanted to make a new government but USC had a civil war so SNM invited all the elders in Somaliland to Burco then announced it.

As far as I'm aware abdirahman tuur wanted to remain as part of somalia, but when the burco conference occurred his opinion was in the minority. The justification to the populace was to prevent another mass slaughter of isaaqs.

Why didn't GX vote only for Faysal?
I don't think he wanted to remain when he was the one who announced Somaliland and was the first president.
This is what some user called @xisaabiye wrote, and gives the proper reason as to why SL was created:
"The original plan was to topple barre and form a new government for the entire Republic. This plan became impossible when USC members Ali Mahdi & Caydiid vied for presidency which led to the civil war. Snm didn't even have it in their mandate to regain SL independence, but the south spiraled into cyclical violence so it was the best option."
