I guess they feel like men are always controlling what they should and shouldn't wear so by taking off their clothes they are liberating themselves from the societal chains put on them

Jafari is Fiqh madhav for Shia, both Twelvers and Ismaili Shias follow this madhab. I don't think they are in the fold of Islam.
