Proposition for new capital relocation

All the violence and pain Mogadishu endured would just be transferred to the new capital. Any entity that is trying to hold back Somalia from prospering would simply redirect their sabotage, terrorism and political pressure on that new capital. On top of that you have the huge cost of new infrastructure, the roads, residential homes, hospitals, transport hubs, schools, an organic economy. All of that would take more than a decade if the country had China’s assistance but it would take much longer than that without them, so it’s not feasible.

Instead of this, all of the billions that will be made available for future projects should be going to making existing cities with a good base like Mogadishu, Hargeisa, Bosaso, Kismayo, Baidoa, etc the most advanced cities in Africa over time with the best CBDs, airports, seaports, hospitals, universities, industrial parks, sewer systems, digital hubs, and with booming shopping districts, promenades and Waterfronts.

Each city should be having its own character like being a cultural hub, a financial hub, a maritime hub, an aviation hub, a medical hub, a tourism hub, an industrial hub, an agricultural hub, a religious hub, etc. Somalia has so many cities to fill those roles, not just Mogadishu.

How about the separation of powers between capitals maybe 3 like south Africa because itss dumb to pour everything into one city like before it's better we diversify and make mogadishu, galkacyo and ceerigaabo 3 capitals and each assigned to one government sector that's what would work best for us tbh.

Capital for the parliament: Hargeisa
Capital for the Bank of Somalia: Baraawe
Capital for Supreme Court: Garowe
Capital for Administration: Mogadishu
Navy HQ: Kismayo
Army HQ: Laascaanood
Airforce HQ: Xamar
Coastguard HQ: Berbera

Ceerigabo has the same clan dynamics as Galkacyo, it’s also too remote. Anything east of Caynabo is known as the wild east of lawlessness in SL. Not a good location for a capital.

A capital could be built from scratch, maybe further up north in Galmudug. The region is still diverse enough to have the new city be shared (MR, HG, Dir). Or perhaps like South Africa, there could be multiple capitals, Muqdisho, Hargeisa, Garowe, Beledweyne, Kismaayo, etc.

Muqdisho could do without being the capital. If anything, it impedes the city’s economic development with all the tomfoolery that occurs around election time, being the target of bombings due to politicians being there, etc. I’m sure the shacab are tired of the constant buuq going on.

Xamar is by far the best location. Logistically speaking. Its the heart of somalia. Having it moved to ceerigabo would leave the south open to kenyan influence.

The north atleast has the sea, and hargesia/garowe as main fronts to counter eithopian influences.

If we move the capital further north,you can pretty much kiss the south goodbye.

Not happening. The only way I could see they change the capital temporarily is if Al Shabaab takes over and the capital becomes in Nairobi or Baidoa like TFG days. Just drop it. Mogadishu is the biggest market, the largest population center and home of all NGO's. So much sweat, tears and blood was spilled to make it what it is today. It's a mute point.


Also people mentioning Ceerigaabo are funny. Why would HY allow their city to be capital for Somalia and have every Tom Deck and Harry move there challenging their slight majority?

It is good to be a regional capital but walaal it's not possible for it to become a capital cause 1 it's too small and 2 there's only like one clan there and isn't diverse we need clan diverse cities where not one clan rules all.

We really need a new capital and xamar is not cutting it anymore the city has been tainted by the violence and killings and many somalis don't trust xamar that much and don't invest into the city which is also still unstable that's why my proposition for a new capital would be.

Hear me out that city is prime real estate and in a prime position not to mention it has natural barriers, close access to the sea and also has near perfect temperature and terrain it is also stable and ripe for development and investing and not to mention the city is inhabited by many clans and really does have the potential to become a clan melting pot where no clan can hoard all the power

Garrowe is good as a regional capital remember we want clan diverse cities or cities willing to be clan diverse.
