PM Hamza Barre says they take guidance from Hargeisa and want to establish a similar political system

This is a good thing. They're finally realizing whatever they're doing in Xamar isnt working and will not work going forward. The only way forward is mutual understanding, reconciliation, and unity throughout Somaliweyne.

After 2 decades of looting they finally realized 4.5 system doesnt work đŸ˜‚
Ive never understood this characterization 2 decades ago there wasnt even a functioning somali govt.
Quite frankly ive never understood this idea of Mogadishu being presented as some mythical abstract entity who shoulders the blame for whats happening in somalia. when the pervious somali government was overthrown by militias from all the major qabils.

The tfg was literally founded by the federal member states and they've been constantly trying to weaken it. Its so weird to talk about the failures of the fed govt when you essentially have every region in somalia purposefully trying to keep it weak because they benefit from the current state of affairs

They decided on this system 2 decades ago before tfg, because of the chaos and the fact that they barely controled anything they couldn't let the population vote, and they also had to please the UN with some kind of democratic looking system so they decided on 4.5 to also gain the backing of the qabil leaders

Founded by Ethiopia/Puntland which is barely a federal member state, fgs created all the fms except jubaland

What is there left to learn from Somaliland? It is a political dead end. The one "innovative" institution political scientists found interesting, the Guurti, has remained unelected for nearly 30 years. They don't even have proportional representation. The party system, capped at three parties, has allowed for the entrenchment of clan. Clan matters more now in Somaliland than it did in 1997. Somaliland is a city-state 28 years later.

But the political landscape of Somaliland isn't just about the system though??? There is an accountability factor and the fact that there is 1 major clan (with the sub-clans included as well) and 2/3 DEI clans in Somaliland. Someone can be in Hargaysa, Boroma, & Berbera and can still be held accountable to the government. Same thing goes with Puntland and her cities. Doesn't matter what political ideology or government structure the FGS brings, it'll be same old same old.

and don't forget the people, the quality of the people and the faith they have to their state would transcend any government. People from SL want an country, people from PL want limited or even 0 federal government interference.
