Percentage of population with electricity in the EAC

Somalia doesn't really have resources, that's a bit of a myth. We have 2 rivers, a long coast and that's about it. I don't think there was ever a future where Somalia becomes a wealthy nation, we needed a lot of oil and gas for that.

Pre-seismic surveys I would agree, but the Spectrum GEO study removed any doubt that vast quantities of black gold lies underneath Somalia’s soil and shores. Its also part of the gemstone belt that stretches to Mozambique, and most likely would yield the same offshore potential for gas as the latter. Its equal if not greater than Canada when it comes to Uranium reserves, rare Earth minerals, has huge potential for Salt works at Hafun, can generate 283GW in renewable energy from wind power alone, add to all of that the Blue Economy potential from ports, shipyards, fisheries, etc and its a joke that we are in this current situation.

In a no oil scenario but sound economic policies I think we could still push ourselves to a $150 - $300 billion economy, which would still put us comfortably above any other country in the region and make us competitive with the North African countries.

Give it few years,

We can have 100% access in electricity in 20 years time, we gotta keep our TFR 5+ until 2050. Only thing we have on our favour against our neighbours/rivals is our fertility rate and we gotta keep it up.

Its just geopolitics, winner takes all.
Dude i grew up in xamar somalis always defy this concept kkk every famiky i knew in xamar atleast ha 8-9 kids kkkk. U have no idea imo somalis culture of babies is high wah. My father aline has 16 kids we live in xamar omey explain that my older brother has 4 kids. He said he wants to mary another woman 😂😂😂 he is only 33 years old can u believ it kkk bro u have no idea

Ethiopia has no excuse to have such a low figure. They kept spewing propaganda for years that once the GERD dam finishes, the entire country would be supplied and have excessive power available for export. Ileen wuxuu ahaa been iyo huuhaaa :kanyehmm:
Farmaao said he will import electricty from ethiopia

Population is overrated in my opinion. Tiny Great Britain colonised almost half of the world.

Somalias of shore wind potential is 45000 Mw .
While ethiopia dam is only 6000 Mw 10 times remeber this only ofshore not including onshore wind also solar energy somalia has huge potential.

The biggest hinderance is access to large scale investment that can ensure the funds to make those power projects into reality.

It's great that debt relief have happened, but any future loan arrangement will be tied with how well our economy is. The better managed and increased revenue, the higher loans we can take for development.

But also attract foreign and diaspora (+ local) to invests in Somalia. Either entirely private, or public-private partnerships, which is the route to take imo.

I can confirm that it's prevalent throughout the country :deadpeter:

How is it in Xamar/Somalia?
Electricity in Xamar is 10x better but it’s expensive that’s the problem. A whole year will go by without electricity ever cutting off in Xamar and the internet is one of the fastest in the world, imagine that! I hated using the internet in Addis Ababa. I found it difficult to breath too up in the highlands due to the lack of oxygen I wasn’t used to 🤣

We'd get karbashed even if the population was 100m. In the modern age infrastructure and intelligence matters way more then a high tfr
