what do you think? The Somali coast has about 100 billion oil barrels

Its valuable, but can't be the only thing we hang our hat on, agriculture, fisheries, minerals, and ports can all be major sources of revenue for economy.

Yeah Somalia would be a different place if we had oil in the 1960's. :mjswag:
The world knew we had it. Siad barre was on some dumb shit, apparently the oil companies offered only 10% profit and he declined which he shouldn’t have when Saudi Arabia was offered the same in the beginning. In time he could of nationalized it and then the real money would come in alongside the coast, minerals, etc.

We had a chance but fucked it up :stopit:

This is why PL needs to secede - imagine sharing PL oil with a bunch of corrupt southrons hhh4.png

I highly doubt there is actually oil in Somalia, and even if there was, it would just serve as another reason for vultures to circulate, the leadership in Somalia is massively corrupt and inept, resource curse is an actual economic phenomenon, and especially in Africa, it's not someone to be desired.

I would rather we become like Rwanda, then like Gabon. Don't pray for oil to solve all our problems, only competent leadership and a change in mentality will yield long-lasting results
