The 77 war was a disaster. I think MSB wanted Abdullahi Yusuf and other MJ high ranking officers killed in that war. Abdullahi Yusuf went with 30k men and came back with 12k and had no aerial support but he still managed to be so close to Addis before he was ordered to pull his troops back. MSB later told AY to come for war medal ceremony but he knew this was a set up.

Really that’s crazy why did he want them gone ? I realized after that war is when the jabhads were created

Because MSB was a coward, he was afraid that they would turn against him after they returned. This is why he gathered the best officers and generals, 84 of them, and killed them. Only two survived. Others refused to go because they knew they would be killed

No guys, the beginning of the end was after 1973, only the first couple years kacaan was decent, the kacaan introduced literacy programmes, rooted out a lot of corruption and tribalism. In also introduced various modernisation projects, free education for kids, a new writing system for the Somali language, boosting the military.
None of this were done by the corrupt useless previous regime.

1973 was when it started going downhill not 1977 because there was a lead up to that then started the '77 war to distract people and stay onto power, the rot started when took orders from Saudi Arabia not to drill for oil from the 1973 global oil crises aswell continueng bribing from them in years after aswell as Siad Barre started becoming tribalist and corrupted after that and started the 'M.O.D' tribal alliance.

He always had this paranoia about them. Some of the finest 1977 war heroes were killed by MSB before they even came back to their capital. The coup was supposed to happen in October 1976 but AY advised Mohamed Osman Ciro and the other young generals that it was a bad idea since the country was getting ready for a war with Ethiopia.

The Somali Republic was in a state of decay in those days and corruption and tribalism were rampant. After President Sharmaarke was assassinated, a civil war almost broke out, but the military takeover prevented this.
