If they were more united in their cause they could go far like Eritrea. Or even demand power like the NFD Somalis did. I agree that there was a lot of betrayal going on in between themselves, but we cut them off from the sea. That meant their resources were not being replenished. If Somalis in the mainland had supported them or at least let them freely move inside Somalia and let them import weapons they could have gone far. The Eritrean Liberation front had many external allies including the Somali government so that's not a realistic comparison.

ONLF put up a valiant resistance against the filthy tigreys for years. However the filthy raw meating hiv infected tigray began to literally raise villages to the ground because onlf fighters had families in that village or were from there. They would target innocent somali, shoot elderly men, rape and arrest women, kill lifestock, bury wells and imprison men of fighting age. They would repeat this process where onlf fighters popped up.

This then lead to many non onlf somali to go against onlf and armed resistancw against the bug eyed filthy aids carrying tigrey military and goverment. You see people lost hope in seeing victory. Onlf couldn't meaningfully put up a resistance that would force the injirley to atleast retreat because of lack of funding and quality weapons.

Also remember fleeing onlf fighter's and sometimes innocent qaxooti fleeing from the conflict were being handed over to Ethiopia by mamuls in somalia anywhere from kismayo to sl. This obviously demoralised anybody who supported an armed resistance

Its at that point that the ogaden along with other somali came together and accepted Ethiopian domination and subjugation in return for "peace" and "development".

They have seen of the that in small increments however the injirley still maintains a large paramilitary loyal to them known as liyu police and their excuse is that they are hunting onlf and maintaining peace.

So somalida in western somalia didnt hand themselves on a plate, rather they were given 2 very hard choices and they chose the lesser evil.

So they not traitors rather they have put an end to a one sided battle against a merciless regime that saw problem in wiping out entire villages.

Also the people vocally and openly supporting iley are rumoured to be people from his laf and jilib. Other ones might have business interest in that mamul. Some I guess have seen a genuine improvement in their personal lives due to the so called peace treaty. Having said that they are not a majority.

People like @Reign dont want to read into the conflict or talk to people who are knowledgeable about the conflict. They simply want to shout insults whilst completely being ignorant of facts.

Even I used to say why they give up? but an uncle told me the rationale behind their decision.

We dont have to like it, but for now its okay until we can get ourselves organised and start the long process of building a military, training soldiers officers generals and buying weapons.
