I could see that being true in corporate environments but in my field I feel like it matters less. Competence is very important in healthcare. You can be as chatty and sociable as you like but if you can’t get your work done on time or you keep making mistakes you’ll be hated. I’ve seen it myself. The nurses that barely talk but know their shit and help others on the team are respected way more than the chatty patty that makes the shift harder for others on the team cause they don’t know what they’re doing lol.

The halo effect is real! I work in a company that promotes being “casual”. Always to make sure you dress business causal and wear a nice consistent distinct cologne. Iron your clothes, match and experiment with colour schemes that go well with your skin tone and undertone. Wear some boots and some nice trousers and slacks but not too formal otherwise you look autistic and out of place. Appearance and socializing is KING

There's a pajeet and some posh cadaan "Rugby lad" from my intake currently on my team. The two of them are more competent at their job then I am, but there's a night and day difference between how the senior figures in our team interact with me vs how they interact them.

I must say I am having troubling picturing you in a professional environment, but I agree corporate is all about personalities rather than ability.

I was still well liked at my old corporate job despite being kinda dusty appearance wise. I wore the same 1-3 outfits 99% of the time. I was clean and kempt but the same low-effort outfits to a point where my boss commented on it but I was still like a little brother to the guy and yucking it up with pretty much everyone. A dimpled smile and absurd energy levels go a long way.

Depends where you work. Usually hospitals pay the least which is still good pay compared to other jobs. Best of all it is f**king flexible (as long you don't work in a hospital). Most people will work at a hospital for 3-4 yrs after graduating, gain skills, learn the ins/outs, then bounce. You could take side gigs from group home and negotiate your pay. Many group homes pay really well cuz the entire business is open on your license, but you need to be careful. You could even open your own group home. The higher the education, the higher the pay. In America there is a variety of fields for nurse, depending what field you work you get paid well.

Not smart just studious. I did PSEO in high school that's why I started early. I think starting at your sister's age is better. I started at 19 and it was hell! The amount of work, exams, and clinical rotations is so damn much you don't got time for anything else in life. I lost so much sleep that after several months of graduating I was still waking up at odd times of the night. On top of tha, most of the nursing instructors are cadaan old racists ladies. They will literally work to fail you. I've just recently started another type of hell called the BSN, thank god I only have 3 months left. Cadaab caady baa galay.
