The UN extended because Somalia didn’t achieve the points set out by them, that they were suppose to have reached by the time the mandate was ending. In order for amisom to exit, somalia needs to be in control of the countries security and borders of the southern states. Somalia needs to also be able to fully take over security of amisom bases in 4 southern states for the transition plan. This military presence are things opposed by few state leaders and oppositions. They know exactly what needs to be done for amisom to leave and this shows that they don’t want amisom to leave. Because of their own selfish gains. SNA taking over of bases of amisom will give the central government a lot more authority in those regions which is a threat to them.
