Axmar means red in arabic not xamar u ain't fooling me lil ngaIt means red in arabic Im pretty sure, but maybe its somali
The idea of Mogadishu being founded by Arabs does indeed date back to the 19th/20th century, no oral or written sources before that had ever mentioned Xamar being foreign. It doesnt date back to colonial times
The largest and oldest clans of Xamar are all gibil madow, as per tradition.what brings you to the conclusion that gibil madow founded it ?
Hopefully more diaspora find themselves in the fields of arts/sciences/humanities instead of riding the Computer science/Nursing wave. It’d be beneficialAr@bs will soon be arguing aboriginal Australians were arab once upon a time because they use body paints that are similar to henna.
Somali historians need to make gateways into studying our own history before they start arguing that Somalis learned to breathe from Arabian travellers.
You can clearly tell when Im being sarcastic or not, you guys are just really studid honestlyPeople cant tell if your trolling or actually being genuine. There is other evidence that ethnic Somali clans founded the city too like the oldest graves being Somali or Greco-Roman sources outright talking about Somalis living in the Mogadishu area.

Read the Periplus of the Erythraean Sea, an ancient Roman document that wrote about Somalis.Send the evidence bro
They will use a tertiary source against southerners? Right...Cadcads will definitely use this against you southerners
Please do so.will even show you the primary account hes quoting.

You’re just a confused sanbusalander who after finding out Isaaqs aren’t descendants of the Prophet or even a real clan, went off the rails. Now you think everyone else’s history and identity is fake news.Im not arguing about the xamar part, and this is not how history works, Ajuran pre 1000AD spreading islam in the interior ? The oldest somali clans such as dir didnt even exist at that time.. This ajuran BS is starting to get ridiculous. The Persian theory is even worse.
I challenge you to bring a single primary source of this, and if you do wallahi I will never mention this again.
What does a tomb in 1365 have to do with thisRead the Periplus of the Erythraean Sea, an ancient Roman document that wrote about Somalis.
As for the graves, here it is.

I can go on… but thread will be moved to FDK section lool
All of this misses the larger point, the elephant in the room, which is that there simply aren't any Arabs in Somalia in any meaningful or indigenous sense. Preliminary genetic results on Cadcads, have shown them to be primarily Bantu-Indian with a significant Somali component.I wish I didn't have to resort to this cause Cadcads will definitely use this against you southerners but here is book from 1575 saying Arabs were the first to come to this country and I cut the rest, I've been researching about this for at least a year dont think Im not familiar with the topic. And if you wanna go deeper into this I will even show you the primary account hes quoting.

Ik xamraa means red too but I don't see the connection between xamar and xamraa, xamar is a tree in somali and there are alot of towns that are named after trees in somaliaxamar

This wouldve been a good argument but the story says that they just left after somalis took overAll of this misses the larger point, the elephant in the room, which is that there simply aren't any Arabs in Somalia in any meaningful or indigenous sense. To put this in perspective: arguing that Arabs founded Somali cities is like claiming that Beijing was founded by Romans, based on the assumption that I and all other Somalis somehow fall under the “Roman” category. It’s a misrepresentation of both history and identity. Most CadCads are the descendants of Indian merchant that came during the heyday of the Swahili trade between the 1800s and 1900s.
Its from the 8th islamic century for f*ck sake bro, why are you being so arrogant when you dont even know the islamic calendarIts from the 8th century
Right, that totally makes sense. The founders just up and left with for no ostensible reason. Why would anyone take such stories seriously?that they just left after somalis took over
Yes. Persians came, built the large urban city in 60 years, gave the keys to Somalis, packed up, and jumped ship. Right after, Ibn Battuta came to a buzzing rich metropolis even for his world-traveling standards. But wait.. no Persians in sight and Somalis in control, fully integrated, established, and part and parcel of it all.
That's what we call a legit story, bro.
People read stuff without processing anything. They would say, "See, a Persian came flying on a magic carpet at that date and established the city. It's here on texts," without questioning how that does not fit into reality.
Bruh check the first image, it says 720 CE.Its from the 8th islamic century for f*ck sake bro, why are you being so arrogant when you dont even know the islamic calendar
