You may disagree with me on this and that’s okay. We can all have a time to disagree on one another.

The reason why Somalis act like this is because they associate themselves with Madow culture. And their fathers are not presence in their lives.

Not saying Madows in general are gangster most of them (including AA’s) are angry that their communities are associated with these people.

But it has become a controversial side of their image wheres low class even higher class (rappers) uses this as their persona.

Acting like gangsters and associating with hood culture has become a problem.

The ratchet behaviour is one of the worst trait a Somali or any community should adapt to.

Our culture is not great and need a bit of a change but I don’t see copying other cultures or mimicking other minorities would help our cause.

In fairness nothing is paid well in the UK. My brother works as physician in NHS and gets paid less than a McDonalds worker in the US. But it's still a career with good prospects, you can always move.

Anyways, the failure of children reflects poorly on parents, and yes, Somali parents are not as proficient at setting their children up for success when compared to Indians or Chinese. This is due to the IQ difference our parents have, on average, 35 to 40 points less in IQ. This will manifest in the next generations unless we manage to spread awareness and teach Somali parents effective Tiger parent tactics.

For some people it will take one generation; for others it will take two generations to catch up, usually depending on the IQ level of their parents or if they are surrounded by high IQ individuals that can make decision for you. These are my two cents

I've personally seen this in real life. A Somali girl I went to school with ended up going to a top uni in the UK while her older brother (1 year age difference) ended up going to prison for drug dealing.

I've always wondered how this was the case. How did two siblings (male and female) both grow up in the same house with same mother and father, one ends up in prison or the streets and other ends up graduating from university pursuing a high paying career. How does this happen?
