This does happen quite a lot to Somali families in the diaspora. Causes;

1. Somalis having too many children and thus, can't afford to live in normal neighbourhoods. Boys are more likely to be peer-pressured into joining hoodlums or they run the risk of being bullied.

2. If the neighbourhood is decent, it's a case of not having structure and chores for boys, whilst the girls do. In addition to allowing their boys outside and not monitoring their social circles.

3. Educational discrimination; racist teachers do try to discourage children who are ethnic minorities and they think they can push Somalis around. Somali parents may lack the language skills or the energy to keep an eye on this.

4. The most toxic of all that permeates all classes and neighbourhoods; filthy music that glorifies ciyaalo suuqnimo, even Cadaan Middle-Class boys are emulating hoodlums and 'roadman'.

Sometimes it's a combination of all things.

Avoid all of this and watch your kids like a hawk, don't let your boys become lazy bums and you should be fine insha'Allah.
where is ur pfp from?

They really came out full force in the comments shits crazy

Sadly it's the reality of what is happening to a lot of Somalis in the West.

If anyone wants to raise children in the West at this point, raise them in good neighbourhoods, homeschool them and fill their timetable with extra curricular activities. But then you have to deal with the toxic media + music. It's a very tough battle.

Criminal son usually gives us a good look on the success of the family, most likely the whole family is dysfunctional.

Different shaming levels between the two genders, men have a free and unfettered parenting style. Whilst the women have more strict and constrained parenting style implemented to them.

Don’t know were this myth comes from that somali boys especially the tuugs live without consequinces. These man are either kicked out of the house by 15 or send to dhaqan celis, never mind the beatings. Somali parents do not turn a blind eye when their son goes of the rails, they almost immediately cut them off.

I cant understand why somalis like to amplify sh*t. But since we play this game, while our "succesful" somali sisters embarras us, we have famous ustadhs being somali men and quran competitions being almost dominated by somali boys...

Any degree is impressive
no it isn't
useful to build a functioning society. There is no job that is too small or meaningless. What is meaningless and disgraceful is criminality and purposefully being a jobless leech.
thats not the point, its easy to become a uni graduate.

women aren't going to be famous ustaadhas or do Quran competitions as much as men

Finally spot on, these men are being frowned upon in normal functioning somali families I got so much stories of mom's kicking their just released son out of the house and family but yeah you got people I here pushing a narrative that a ordinary somali parent wouldn't do a damn thing🀣 as if we are like the madows

It's not easy for everyone to graduate, there are people with learning difficulties, mental issues, insecurities etc, etc. Say Alhamdulilah if you have a degree or a skill that allows you to earn a living.
learning diffiulties are overstated, the rest of those are rare non issues, everyone has life difficulties, even upper class people, i know one person who did his exams while his brain wasnt fully fucntioning because he was hit in the back of the head with an object b4 his exam and still smashed it

point being, it isnt difficult to get a degree, ask anyone who has one, u just gotta do the bare minimum to pass the exams and get the degree, most of the time u can just waste time having fun, plus u take a loan out so its basically free, stop trying to make everything seem difficult, getting a degree is so easy, most people get a degree which is why the job market is so over-saturated and its difficult to get a job with just a degree.

not getting a degree is the height of retardation, its so easy to get one if you don't then your just intentionally stupid
