Is it time Somalia changes its capital?

After the recent football tournament that was held in Xamar which resulted in Koonfur Galbeed football players facing prejudice and xenephobia it has really made me wonder whether Somalia can have Mogadishu as its capital any longer. How can it remain as the capital when we can't even hold conducive football tournaments without chaos and tribalism getting involved?

I used to be of the view that Xamar is the best place for the capital but as of recent that has changed. We need a new capital where all somalis are welcomed and nobody is sidelined. Where nobody feels like they own the capital over anyone.

The capital must be in a location where the native population aren't tribalistic and xenephobic. Where a Somali whether they are Dir,Daarood,Hawye, Digil iyo mirifle, and beesha shanaad can all claim and be welcomed.

If Somalia wants to progress this is a discussion that must take place. I am sick and tired of people claiming Xamar to be theirs and otherizing other clans that live there.

I wanna hear people's thoughts. And btw I am not trolling I am dead serious about this, recent events have made me really consider if Xamar is a suitable capital anymore.

Moving the capital won't solve anything, but building a strong constitution, state and a legal system where anyone who commits crimes would get prosecuted by the justice system without qabil favorism would solve the issue.

Tbh I would've loved to remove the capital from Xamar so that it would never see constant Shabaab attacks but unfortunately there is still no other city that can replace it as capital

I personally disagree, changing the capital would be very beneficial. Somalias government has been hijacked by one clan.

As we all know anytime a non Hawiye becomes president the capital is used against that current president. That is really stunting the growth of Somalia.

Also the fact that reer Muqdisho always claim the capital to belong to them. Sidelining all the other clans living there considering that Xamar is the capital of Somalia, is really destructive to Somalia.

There is many cities that could be made capital. Baidoa, Baraawe, Laascaanood, Cerigaabo etc can all me made the capital of Somalia.

That can be discussed at a later date, but I fully agree that Mogadishu has shown itself to be incapable of hosting the capital of Somalia. I think it's time Somalis come together and choose a new capital for the government.

I agree with @Abdisamad whereby we need strong legal system in place to deter such things from happening again. Changing capital won’t change the situation. Xamar is full of Raxanweyne while KG has Hawiye.

Every city in somali like this bro. The biggest clan will claim and say everyone else guest I could pull up games from many somali games elsewhere of rock throwing and clan bashing. Lol I’ve even seen games with girls having clan bandanas and marker tattoos on face. You looking at somali from western mindset it’s crazy place where abnormal is normal.
