The Afar named the current region of Djibouti Gabod (plateaux or uplands). The Arab sailors called it Gabouti, and later on, the French turned it into Djibouti.

Lol you copied and pasted it from this site https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/afrolegends.com/2014/04/14/why-the-name-djibouti/amp/
The same website also says this "
The first one is based on an ancient Issa legend whereby the name Djibouti (Jab Bouti) came from a fabulous animal Bouti which used to live in those areas and was a ferocious beast killing goats, and sheeps, and terrorizing people. After a relentless hunt, the men defeated the beast, and named the area Jab Bouti or the Bouti’s defeat.

What story sounds more likely? Who would name an area after a mythical beast who eats their only source of food/livelihood?

apposition of Djibouti government means or = Afar. Stay away from these power hunger traitors(afar), the French brought them to Djibouti and all they want is country for afar tribe. Last month they refused to settle the isse refugees from Ethiopia in Djibouti. BTW the refugees (10,000) were displaced by Oromo from their towns in Ethiopia.
Your love of dictators and dictatorships never gets old.

Afar have every right to Djibouti.
