History will repeat itself and will spill over to the rest of the Horns as usual but I think this time will be different. Opinions will change because in the past, no one knew what Tigrai-Tigrinya and Amhara Christians did. There was no social media or anything reliable to see what was happening inside.

History have shown that conflict were heavily concentrated in the Highland (North Ethiopia and Eritrea) for very clear reasons, it's survival mechanism for those Abyssinian when they're being threatened by the Afar, Saho, Jeberti and those that live among them.

The question is will those Cushitic Muslim ethnicities finally leave their qabil aside and get their shit together or remain humiliated as usual?

If Ethiopia collapses again, like it did in 1991, the Oromo will be tempted to reconstruct it like the TPLF/Tigray reconstructed it. The TPLF could have opted for secession, and handed the reins off to the Amhara/Oromo. But they could not resist the temptation of running Ethiopia and chilling in Addis. As a result, their people experienced a genocide 8 years after the death of Meles.

If Ethiopia collapses, the Oromo will be face with a similar choice: let Ethiopia go the way of the Soviet Union or Yugoslavia, or put it back together and rule it yourself. I am sure that the Oromo will try to put it back together as they will see losing power as unlikely due to them being the largest ethnic group.

Tbf it's not like the argument you could make for some anticolonial Europeans made after WW1/WW2, where maintaining the empire is a drain on resources/institutions so let's just conserve resources and instead live in a developed social democracy.

Harari back then referred to the inhabitants of the town, not an ethnicity so like New Yorker. When Richard Francis Burton travelled to Harar, he noted that were were 8000 people in the town, 2500 of which were Somalis (possibly even more since there were also 3000 unspecified nomads) so yes Somalis used to have a significant presence in the town before Menelik II's conquest and purge of the Somalis there. We were also the ones to built the walls of the town to begin with.

Oromos are the largest ethnic group in Ethiopia, and they're already pouring into Somali cities and chipping away at our land.

If Ethiopia were to collapse, it's very possible that millions of Oromos would pour into Somalia and overwhelm our cities and our limited resources.

Somalia would also somehow be pulled into the conflict.
