Good point. I think there is definitely cultural stigma in Somali community around female athletes, so I think there is a high chance that nobody capable was able to be found. But in that scenario I still think its better just to not compete at all, obviously sports isn't the most important thing in a country but its better to not embarrass the country rather than send someone just for the sake of competing.

I'm assuming that they do trainings, or at least test trials to see how fast she can run before turning up. But couldn't they compare with the stats of her competitor beforehand to prevent this when they saw that it would be unrealistic? Not only did they not do that, but they had the audacity to even do a public stunt for us too
