I remember a case whereby a Somali driver was pulled over by a police car and had an interrogation with the police. The first question he asked the Somali was, "what race are you?" ...and the somali guy was like...uh...umm ME.

I changed my mind from that day that we only need SOMALI as our identity and Islam as our religion although their are exceptions like christians and BLM.

I guess it depends with the features a somali has and also the skin tone that a person might find you to be black. That guy's skin was pale/brown with a little red. Happened in US.

Life experience. Travelling. Travelled to somewhere with hardly any black people, the few black people I saw (regardless of ethnicity) all smiled at me and spoke to me. That’s when I realised that to everyone else, we are black, so we might aswell accept it. Learning more about African cultures and seeing the similarities to Somali culture. I’m not trolling sxb. I always knew I was black deep down but I denied it because I had this belief that black was inferior in a way. It’s not because a few blacks smiled at me, they came up to me and spoke to me because they saw me as the SAME as them. They saw me as another black person regardless of my skin colour. And I felt the same tbh. Go live somewhere thats all white/asian/arab and you will also similarly be excited to see another black person regardless of ethnicity. That’s because you know that they are your people. Somalis are the closest to me, and other blacks are second.

Walahi if you go to South East Asia like Indonesia and you claim black/African they'll look at your weird. Few people asked me where I was from, I told them Somalia, they didn't know where Somalia was located. So I said Africa, and they were surprised AFRICA? My people? Can't relate. I have Congolese neighbors, nice family. But they look nothing like my family. Nothing wrong with admitting that Somalis don't exactly fit neatly into the "black" label.

Well in recent history that is the direction the world has gone. But you would be surprised in knowing that actually most people are not that bad. In my trips around the world, I can honestly say I have never experienced any racism. Maybe slight prejudice, but that was it.
