Banadir would be overpowered way more than it is now and upper Jubba would effectively be the slum of the country.
Most people would travel and invest other parts of the country not Benadir.

that's not the reason why it would be overpowered. Lower Shabelle was always the most populous region of Somalia and both Shabelle's are the backbone of the country. People would still flock to Mogadishu considering its the capital but now the two most fertile regions would also see huge developments due it being part of the same region as the capital

4-5 deep sea ports, freeways and interacted highway system to move good, a monopoly on the indian ocean and all trade coming into East Africa. The coastline itself is a free money generator. Without even the need of Oil we could be very rich. Somalis can't see the bigger pictures though, it gives me a bit of anxiety when I think about this stuff

The biggest mistake was not adopting Federalism in 1960. Somalia was pretty much a city state and we all suffered as a result of putting our eggs in one basket. Now any region that wants to go full retard, it's on them. They alone will suffer the most.

I would prefer federalism based on these regions rather than the current clan based confederalism thing we currently have going on

Ironically, if went back to the old 8 states, 6 in the south and 2 in the north, 4 of the 8 would be majority Darod. Obviously Darod are not 50% of Somalia's population. It would be an unfair map.
No it wouldn’t. If we went back to the 8 old states darood would be the majority in 2 out of the 8, Lower Juba (questionably) and North east. Togdhere would be 50/50 at best but dominated by isaaq regardless and Mudugh would be majority Hawiye without a doubt

Harti are the majority in more districts in that region, yet Togdheer would be dominated by Isaaq make it make sense
