I’m too sore for my 2nd workout at the gym. Come in if you’re a regular gym goer.

I went to gym for the first time in my life 4 days ago, following a beginner program.

I done squats(45kg), bench press(45kg) and the bent over barbell row(35kg).

It was quite easy and not that hard and I thought of increasing the weight, but my friend recommended me not to since I need to work on my form.

Anyway, the next day when I woke up, I couldn’t fully extend my arm without pain and I struggled walking. I thought that I’d recover in another day so I can hit the gym again but it’s been 4 days now and I still feel fucked up. I can’t even squat normally.

To those who go to gym, is this normal? How can I numb the pain and soreness?

Its completely normal.

You have to rest. When you start working out with higher weights your muscles aren't used to it which causes the soreness and pain. The best thing you can do is wait it out and then go back to continue doing the higher weights. Never work out when you feel sore. It can lead to muscle tears.

The same thing happened to me before but like I said, when the soreness is done, go back to working out and increase your weights from there.

Totally normal, just do a little bit of light stretching.

My first time back in years I had to ice my chest and arms.

getting sore after a workout is the best feeling :ahh:
if you streetch after ur workout, you can reduce the soreness. But its also normal that you get sore due to not training for some time

You went to the gym for the first time in your life and you benched 45 kg????
Pls be carefull it can be dangerous for the rest of your life if you make 1 mistake

I think you pushed yourself to hard for the first time

You better get use to it. If you don't feel soreness than you hitting the muscles your working on right.

Also remember to stretch before working out that's how I fucked up my back doing deadlifts or my left shoulder doing overhead press

Should I wait until my soreness goes or should I work out anyway?

I’ve benched before but nothing serious. It was 5 sets of 5 so I don’t think I pushed myself hard. The program I’m following says that if you can’t complete a set then it’s too heavy as well.

It's totally normal for first-timers. Wait till the soreness subsides then start lifting light weights. Don't follow the program until your muscles gets used to lifting. It can take 3 weeks for your muscles to get used to it.

You need to stretch your whole body before and after a work out, also gentle exercises before a work out warms your muscles up. Wait until the soreness is gone before you try again.

It is normal. Just make sure to eat well and drink at least 30grams of protein after workout and sleep a lot. Muscles grow when you do that.

And who told u to bench and and squat on the same day?

This dude did press pull and legs in one day :russ:

Keep up the good work. But try to isolate your work outs. Do a pull exercise for one day, the push for the next and legs another day.
