Agreement so far on $20 million donation straight to the FGS. Reopening of Emirati hospitals in Somalia. State visit to Somalia. Cooperation on security and development. Increased trade. UAE to restart flights in Somalia. Visa rules relaxed for Somali citizens.

$20 million is peanuts. They gave billions to the Ethios and Pakistanis. But cheap Damuljadid will be happy with anything.

Those are loans with high interest rates. Pakistan routinely fails to repay them though and have to restructure them every time they get an IMF bailout.

Saudi Arabia is a lot more generous to Pakistan (because of their nuclear program and military strength which they rely upon in case of attack).

This 20mn donation is going to be good for drought victims for 2 weeks at best. The incentive isn’t there given UAE won’t have any return. But if every country was as generous as the UAE who overall donate a great deal of money alongside Saudi and Qatar we’d very easily deal with this drought.

If they’re sincere they should’ve invest in our farms & also fisheries sector, none of these khaleejes want a strong Somali govt & it’s known fact

Why do you think they are interested in sustaining other nations. We should do this ourselves. The only reason why they donate is because of our historical connections and muslimnimo.

Ain't no one sincere in the political world every nation is for itself. Even within the nations there are different camps with different loyalties.

Sometimes people expect to be spoon fed. Many underestimate just how much aid we get yearly. Without that we’d be a 1 million population constantly dying off famines like we used to.

Even then I’m sure if there’s a profit margin they’ll be willing to develop Somalia’s agriculture sector (for example UAE is by far our biggest importer of livestock, we would be an excellent client state with arable land right next door) but the issue like always is that Shabaab occupies some of the most lush land in Somalia. Like how can you expect anyone to invest when Shabaab control that land or are able to tax it.

$20M ? oh well,
at least it's double of what we got last time. but boy these geeljires need to up their hustle game ,
them Emiratis are treating us like the neighborhood crackhead .

Just 2 weeks? I think it’d be more, or you just calculated the corruption as well?

It's all so tiresome

Disappointed. Not enough grovelling. We could've secured another 10m if HSM offered one of our federal states at least.

Last time we sold our seas for a couple million.

It's frankly embarrasing for a nation to accept 20 million. They wanted HSM to renegade on all his deals with Turkey but he refused.

UAE know HSM has no power over the main states (JL<PL<SL)
His value to them is 20million in aid :dead:
no trade no investments only 20m in expired baris

I don't think his in the position to reneg anything.

Every state should pursue its own interests.

Somalia's future is a conservative Libertarian country.

I’m sure if @bidenkulaha could have begged for them, they would have given us $50m

UAE provided 30mn in the past month and the US 50mn. The US is by far the strongest economy in the world so that’s a good amount in comparison. These are not part of the regular aid we get either. You should be grateful. Somalia receives 2bn in development aid from the UN. FGS budget of 1bn is 70% aid money too.

Secondly UAE is the biggest buyer of goods. It’s far more important to increase trade volumes rather than forever be begging for more aid (which we get plenty off). Also improving security cooperation.

Personally I would entice UAE with Somali troops in Yemen in the long run as long as the SNA has access to UAE’s military hardware and is funded by them. They wanted that deal before Farmaajo rejected it.

Infrastructure and education. Those are the only two things that matter anything else can either be abruptly taken away or put on hold but oh well its a start I guess

Security is the only thing that will make Somalia a viable country because the population needs to move towards the lush South where Shabaab occupies many parts of.

It’s important everything HSM does focuses on improving our military.
