HSM says everyone here isn’t a Somali

Soomaalinimada wajiga miyeey ku taal?
If you don't have a Somali passport, then the government must treat you as a foreigner until you get your ID.

Why are you making a big fuss about this?
What's stopping anyone carrying a foreign passport from claiming citizenship?

Whether you recognize HSM or the FGS doesn’t change reality , the world recognizes only the Federal Republic of Somalia.

Those who get the national ID will be the ones who can access its benefits, travel freely, and be treated as Somali citizens internationally. Refusing it only isolates people and closes doors for them.

It won’t take anything away from you whether you’re from the diaspora, Djibouti, Ogaden, Somaliland, or Puntland etc, having a Somali ID is simply an added benefit.

It only strengthens your legal status and opens more opportunities; it doesn’t diminish what you already have.

No one is being stripped of their Somali citizenship , the ID is just a way to verify it, not replace it.

Citizenship comes from the law, not from the card. Denying services without an ID is about administration, not erasing nationality, and people can still prove their Somali citizenship through ancestry or documentation to get the ID. This strengthens citizenship ,it doesn’t take it away

It's just a denial of visa-free travel but really he is trying to mix the concepts together for his benefit.

National ID doesnt mean shit outside xamar

I think you mean evisa

A national ID is more than just a document for travel , it proves citizenship, helps access services, banking, aid, and legal rights inside Somalia, and is required to get passports and e-visas.

Without it, even a legitimate Somali can face obstacles internationally and locally. It’s not just about Xamar.

Keyword "inside Somalia"

PL and SL arent concerned, you think a SL askari is gonna ask anyone for a piece of plastic from xamar ?
True, local authorities in Puntland or Somaliland might not check a Somali ID, but its value isn’t limited to local enforcement.

It proves citizenship for passports, banking, remittances, and international recognition benefits that reach beyond any single region

It’s more than just visa-free travel. Again ID proves citizenship, allows access to services, banking, remittances, and legal protections , denying it isn’t about visas, it’s about having a recognized identity within Somalia. Conflating the two misses the bigger picture

Politically he is just positioning FGS as the arbiter of Somali nationality beyond the practical uses of ID.
He could have said for the purposes of visa-free entry you will not be treated as a Somali citizen, instead he chose to say you are not a Somali citizen full stop.
FGS power is so limited it can only be demonstrated on diaspora using international airlines, on the ground it has little to no impact on regular citizens.

As long as you dont need an ID to have a Somali passport it doesnt matter, also banking n remittances arent concerned

I bet even in xamar you barely need it and no cop will ask you if you have it or not

Quit trying to make this look like something big its another utter failure from fgs

I see your point, but the ID isn’t about showing power over citizens on the ground , it’s about officially documenting nationality so that Somalis, especially in the diaspora, can exercise their rights internationally.

Without it, even if FGS control is limited locally, people risk being denied passports, visas, or formal services. The ID is a tool for recognition and protection, not just political positioning.

The Somali ID isn’t just about cops asking for it on the street , it’s the official proof you need to get a passport, access formal banking, receive remittances safely, and interact with government services.

Without it, even if day-to-day life seems fine, people remain invisible to the system and miss out on opportunities that require official documentation.

You might feel fine without the FGS now, but international systems don’t work on feelings , they work on recognition.

Only Somalia is recognized as a state, so its ID will be the gateway to passports, banking, scholarships, visas, and global services. Those who reject it may be ‘fine’ locally, but they’ll be invisible internationally , that’s the isolation I mean
We will declare independence and destroy the FGS and xamar in the future

Politics is about power though. He is using his power to enforce visa on diaspora (through international law and airlines) and conflating it with citizenship and then using that to talk about power over services like banking and communication for locals.

This is Somalia, and it has citizens.

Ways to identify you're a citizen is a passport or national ID. Being a citizen gives you rights such as voting, visa free entry and living in somalia without prejudice.

You can be of Somali ethnicity and not be a citizen of Somalia ( a Somali).

If you're ethnically Somali you have the right to become a citizen of Somalia.

Ogaden,NFD, Djibouti and the Diaspora are not citizens of Somalia. They don't pay tax, and generally have dubious loyalty.

If we want to be a modern state we have drop this idea that everyone is a Somali citizen.

Finally, if you're worried about ceding our territory to ethiopia and Kenya. When we're strong enough, there's a military solution.

Except HSM isn't saying any of that.
He is just equating ID and passport to citizenship.

Why do you assume it’s beyond the realm of possibility? We can show up at anytime.
There is no world where the political elite of puntland woukd attack xamar or the fgs

Deni is literally trying to run for somali president just like he did last time and abdiweli did before him . The next puntland president will also attempt this .
