We actually went as far as central Kenya before the British intervened. We would have been in Nairobi by now if the British didn’t force back to the Tana

Yeah colonialists themselves said somalis could’ve made it as far as Mozambique if they didn’t intervene

Somalis should have been chilling in the lush highlands of Kenya man, we need a rematch against the british. Haters of the somali race.

They expanded far too late, had centuries to do it before the British landed on those shores.
I think the majority of Somalis were up north though just look where their ancestors are buried the tolomoge Ogaden clan mentioned in this text are originally from godey area in K5 we where to preoccupied with fighting Abyssinia and the highlands we could’ve conquered south eastern Africa very easily if we migrated south earlier

After the adal war there was barely any fights with the amxaaro, the oromos there was though.
I think somalis got fortunate when they managed to overcome the oromos in jubba regions, before they were dominant in places like western gedo for example, and they even managed to vassalise a few Somali clans.

North Western Somalia, South West and Galbeed were good areas for keeping large numbers of camels and cattle. It also a good route to the coast where they could trade with the foreigners as they had done for thousands years.
Even during the Futuh, some Somalis tried to betray the Imam by plotting to secretly return to Somalia with looted Xabashi gold. Aside from the religious zeal inspired by the Imam through religion, I don’t think many Somalis ever harboured ambitions to settle in the Habashi highlands. The same is true for certain areas in Kenya/Tanzania. The latter Somali expansions were driven by drought, population growth and external forces such as Colonialism/Oromo expansion.

If it were not for the British Kenya today would be Somali and the other Cushetic and small Bantu population would have been somalized, the cadcads on the coast would have been somalized.

The British actually spend alot of money on holding Somalis back, and in the end they even relinquished JL which they controlled back in the day.
