12 hours are counted after that, when it's 7am and '1' is said, (well for us, I don't know for you guys) it means 1 hour after the sun has started rising, at 12 it's been 6 hours since sun rise, etc.

I meant like what does it mean to you as in what is it telling you, all 2am is is 2 hours after midnight, 2 in the way you mentioned above^ would be 2hours after the sun has risen, so 8am or 2 hours after the sun has set, 8pm. I definitely think it makes more sense.
