Hopefully this spreads to all the big cities in the country

Soon we'll see Mayors showcasing their cities with large open public spaces. I am hoping to see public parks outside of large cities where people could congregate for leisure, and come together for public events and outings.

This is Riyad, KSA. Much greener, larger spaces could be created all over .So.

I don’t see this happening given how land acquisition works in Somaliaβ€”every plot seems to be privately owned. Parks should be public spaces, not enclosed by gates or massive architectural walls that restrict access. They also need to be thoughtfully designed, not confined to a small 20x20 parcel.

People shouldn’t have to travel to the baadiyo just to access green space. They deserve well-designed recreational areas within the city that provide shade and help mitigate the urban heat effect.

Do bear in mind, the country is thinly-populated, scarcely used, and right gov't [operative] could easily repurpose private land turning it into public use. Citizens actually offer land for free when put to good use. Most of the land you might see designated as private land is not actually [legally] private, as it is not registered with the local authority, nor do owners pay property taxes to claim ownership, just designated at free will.

What a legend. Generational type of changing projects if executed well, Garowe could drop 10 degrees in weather like Mogadishu did after its greening project in the old govt. Since Garowe is in land some consideration is needed for the type of trees suitable plus some diverse foreign trees as back up in case climate changes and local suitable trees die. A ratio of various trees species is best in the long term, geo diversity is better too reduce risk.

@TheLand

Maybe we need to present a testing model for locals in some green house yearly summit to show them how weather changes with trees planted vs no trees in a green room and measure inside temp vs external temp. I also think the ocean plays a role so we need to becareful how we plan trees inside in land territories vs coastal areas. Do Puntite locals want the(ii tabsi evidence based proof) mise waxani waa lack of will, coordination funds, management?

Puntland needs to restore its eco system as it was during the ancient egyptian period who did depict the land and due to degradation looks very different but signs are left of former river beds and lush valleys and diverse animal life.
