Mashallah and just in time for our 21st anniversary. With these factory, we will be able to develop more skills and expertise so that we can one day produce our own steel.

Thank you Allah for making me a Puntite.

Somalia?

:idontlike:

This a Puntland only achievement.

:russsmug:

Thats why I wrote a small step for PL..
We will do/can do more than this.. But in terms of regional development this is a giant step for the Somali speaking regions.. Now PL factory will supply all the local markets :nahgirl:

We need a topic that discusses all the factories that are open in Puntland and how they operate; electricity or solar energy etc.

@Reiko

Are you a mod sis? Please move to development section :)

what are these pipes used for by the way?

It's not great investment wallahi. This is small valued product. It costs less then 100 dollars to buy these pipes. Their intended for construction, in-particularly 'housing' like kitchen, toilet, bathroom or anywhere 'water' management is needed. Since PL diaspora are investing in homes, this service is needed. Will it change our 'economic growth' or GDP figures? NO. It's small final end product.

No GDP will change until you start producing large final end products. Besides I am investigating the 'service' sector, there is big 'gains' in GDP final products to be made here. Rather then focusing on what your 'hands make' which is NOT a big 'margin' GDP factor. Services is now the big thing. We should encourage small businesses to focus on service delivery like massage parlours, your not providing a product but a service. I hope PL investment forum gouges economic development away from 'warshado' but 'adeegyo' iyo fursadaha jira.

We need a mixed economy not just 'warshado' the warshado should be for our poor people to work in only since it requires no skills. Skilled industries is where the big bucks are made. The only products made that are expensive is 'furnitures' they sell for big ticket prices in shops.

Other then that we shouldn't focus on 'daruri' items like pipes and shit. I am very disappointed with this warshad idea, it will only provide employment to the lower scale people in people like rahanwayn and Madow and isaaq. These industries are targetted towards non skilled poorer socio economic classes. It's ended to give them money to make them join the middle class. The middle class work in service industries

Becoming a factory state is only beneficial if the world is your market-place like China. Small daruri items multipled by world population can change your economic GDP in the long-term. But when your factories are not intended for consumers beyond 'Somalia' You have scoped your GDP to 12-15 million people. You will never rise beyond those GDP factors of population vs the product value u produce. It will make little difference to the over-all living conditions of your country.

We need an economic plan that is proper and guided and yes @Finesse we need 'data' to understand what our 'economy' looks like now in terms of 'factories, services, trade' because that is the big areas we are focused on. We still have yet to develop a mineral/oil sector. So with the three sectors we do have, we need data to know where most of our economic production is happening, why, how it can be scaled, is it useful anymore to continue in this direction and so many other facts.

We need to list out 'sectors' we want to develop in the future as 'future state' of Puntland. Oil/Minerals, Technology, Automobile, Furniture Sector. We can place this our 'future' PL in 10-20 years, we need to time it and then look at the 'gaps' inside our current society and ask the government to provide the 'fixes'. Sometimes the gaps can be 'skills' so we need schools that are dedicated for this sector to open up, sometimes it can be capital or investment so we need to identify what the local business people or diaspora can do and what we need 'foreigners' for.

At the end of the day our goal should be to 'employ' Puntland people into 'productive' industries that provide them with a salary while also providing our nation or the global markets with our 'expertise'. This should be our end goal or vision or HAAMI.

Ok let's start like this. What is it we intend for PL? Rather then haphazardly talking about investment, factories, oil, gold, this and that. What is our 'end goal' let's start the discussion there and then work backwards to figure out the 'steps' needed to achieve that goal. My goal for PL is to at least enter 'second world' status. This will require each person in our population has between 10-20k in his 'pocket' thru the production of our economy. So what is our overall population, we need to know this first before we can even start planning industries.

If the population of our people is 4 million in PL. We will need an economy that produces anywhere between 50-100 billion in every financial year. That is 12 months ma garatay ina adeer? you need to produce this in your industries. We gave u the figure for your population and what the industries nee to turn over in products, services, trade, etc. Because once u turn that over we can divide 100 billion GDP over 4 million people and it will be around 25k per person. So every person in your economy is worth 25k now because your economy produces that in a year.

Will making 'pipes' achieve this wonderful GDP growth towards this SET GOAL we have identified? OF COURSE NOT. Even @Finesse was not impressed with this and asked for data on our factories, service industry and trade. Even she knows how critical it is you understand it's about your FINAL PRODUCE WORTH in MONEY TERMS because that will be divided into your population.

What is the final product worth of this pipe factory? maybe 10 million a year? oh wow divide 10 million a year over 4 million people, your talking a 'few cents' ayaa uu soo kordhay umada niyahow DHINACA GDP GROWTH. War ka baxa sheekadan, ha soo faristeen raggi cusman maxamudki ahaa

One of the key problems I have identified in PL economy is the 'work hours'. We need to work day/night our night economy is very 'dead' we are not taking advantage of that. We work not even full days in PL, it's 7 to 12 and basically that's it. So our culture is one big problem, we are not utilizing our workforce for productivity, this needs to change immediately. We need to take advantage of 24 hours in a day. We need measure in each 1 hour across puntland where our highest productivity is happening in term of working and where the lowest is happening, we need to fix the low numbers and bring them back to high figures. We want a powered economy that KNOWS NO SLEEP.

I agree however we need to build factories that will provide for the basic standards of living. After that is accomplished we can evolve to the next level. For now we need to forge economic ties with landlocked african nations.

So you want a service economy of white collar workers. So what will you service and that means you're going to be importing everything.

self sufficiency is key
Gotta stay with key sectors of Food Water & Power then move onto the next stage

Find out what you're good at and figure out how to be make it profitable we have the best telecommunication sector compared to our non Somali neighbors, now let's follow this success and dominate other industries
