This is not from our deen nor the Sunnah of our beloved Messenger SAW to beat someone until they become unrecognizable. Even though she has dishonored herself and her family, there are other solutions. The brother is responsible for her Islamically, so he should have maybe taken her phone away and punished her in a nonviolent way.
There is no sentence that should involve "violence" and "protection". If a man who follows the example of Prophet Muhammad SAW, he should destroy, not the face of his sister, a phone of his sister and ban his sister from using Tiktok. A small discipline is required, of which i agree with no problem.
Do not take violence as "the right action."

Who says I don't believe in morals or values? Just because I don't believe in abrahamic religions doesn't mean I don't have traditional standards regarding the duties of both genders. At the end of the day women are naturally the ones who provide life (children/family) and men are the ones who provide security (a safe home/country and stable finance) atheism is not monolith.

Violence against women and girls is a global problem. Patriarchy and male ego are the main drivers. Men use religion or "honour" to coerce females, when that fails, violence is used to reinforce obedience.
The only path to gender equality is removing patriarchy, socially and legally.

Honour killing or beating is not a part of Somali culture, unlike that of our eastern neighbours Yemen, Oman, Saudi Arabia, etc. (However, a small minority of Arabs practise this, but not a majority.) We shouldn't adopt this practise because it is against Islam itself .
I can see why Somali feminists are upset, but you can't blame Somali men or generalise about Somali males when it could happen to any race or ethnic group on the planet, and we wouldn't do that, would we?
