Talk about it. Provide ideas. What do you suggest?

Personally I think something with colour would look good.

And something that pays respect to our nomadic history.

The issue is clothing is designed for specific purposes. While I would wear these in a heart beat, they aren't suitable for the cold damp nations our parents decided to flee to. I think we can make new cultural clothing but it takes time and we're preoccupied with issues back home.
i stated many times an easy solution is to wear a thobe and just have another neutral color shawl wrapped over your body on top. you can wear a turban or a kofiyad and your good to go

The irony in this thread is that part of Somali fashion historically is precisely how unprescribed and free it was even in the old photos you see a lot of different variations and styles.

The foreign nations that have a specific outfit associated with them basically took the clothing their aristocrats wore and said it is 'the national dress' this is a recent development.

That said wearing thobes is not ideal we need to get our drip back

This is most likely what will occur. Adapting to new environment, the thobe will be absorbed and modified. It's a perfectly good blank canvas in my opinion, we just need something to make it distinctly somali.

I heard the feathers represent a kill. Though I doubt that since I heard it from someone online. We should revive this fit however, looks good.
Yes only a waranle who has killed in battle was allowed to wear one. Certain qabiils xitaa shurud bay uu ahayd i.e maa guursan karti ilaa aad yeelato 4 mid oo baal gorayo ah as no man would give his daughter to a coward.

If we were to wear something like this

But in a colour coordinated manner, I think it would look good. Canes can go, perhaps replace it with a traditional somali sword.

Tbh y'all could just wear these for weddings and Somali/African cultural events. You don't have to wear them daily

Saari’s and Abayas get culturally appropriated all the time. Unfortunately when your clothes are popular, people will steal. The examples you gave earlier were cultural appreciation though.
I think people in general dont want to talk plainly and dont define certain words because youll really learn what is there true intention are. in this example we will define what the word of appropriated means "take (something) for one's own use, typically without the owner's permission". So abyo they are stealing your dhaqan.

I get you. I think most people are looking to replace western and Arab clothing with something more somali for their weddings. Most of the time you see this argument it's always under a somali brothers wedding photos

Exact same thing for Ciise. A man could not marry till he killed another in battle
