I think people in general dont want to talk plainly and dont define certain words because youll really learn what is there true intention are. in this example we will define what the word of appropriated means "take (something) for one's own use, typically without the owner's permission". So abyo they are steal your dhaqan letโ€™s not mince words.
Somali women in Africa are to blame for other African women wearing our clothes. Yemeni women wear our clothes too because of them. Somali women back home donโ€™t gatekeep. Nothing I can do about that ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

No its the fault of the men. Theyre the ones who sold it to them in stores

Do you want Somali men to dress like this on Eid?

At least if you are a "nationalist", be realistic and do not exaggerate with people, as the Arab has nothing to do with it. The Somali royal dress requires wearing thawb, and there is no point in wearing it on Eid as well. But for big occasions, it is better to wear something that resembles the second photo for Eid or in general. Go to the tailor if he is in your area and do that instead of buying a ready made thawb because it is very bad, with the Somali keffiyeh or the Somali turban and that's it.

Are you sure? Iโ€™ve never in my life seen Somali men selling diracs. Iโ€™ve seen south asian men selling it in Dubai lol.
When you go into a Somali store do you see men or women? Theyre the ones who set up stores all over africa selling it.

You lot might appreciate this thread. It looks like our neighbours have heated internal debates on this topic themselves apart from the well known Persian origin of the Aqal and Bisht

I get embarrassed seeing Somali men in that saudi black and gold khamis, the moroccan baatis and other arab attire during important events .

This eid make an effort, itโ€™s actually embarrassing seeing you men dress so khaleeji like, look at pictures from the past and catch a vibe.
I get a little heated when i see west and central africans look good.

Instead of buying moroccan baatis, start someone research and start a somali attire business. Itโ€™s getting ridiculous

TWITTER discourse : a langaab kurdish man shared a pic of a somali man dressed like his people, ceebta

And donโ€™t try to make add religion to this convo. iโ€™m discussing clothes. youโ€™re not getting hasnat for wearing these clothes.
