I wanted to quickly make a statement in regards to this matter, bismillah. Brother Faris has been wrongly slandered and dh is speaking out of ignorance. Protests and boycotts known as mudaharaat (like striking) and it is agreed among the scholars of ahlul sunnah that it is impermissible to do so in a Muslim country as faris had stated. However, in a kafir country (where most of us reside), although protesting is still haram it is permissible to boycott, but not waajib either. There have been multiple fataawa issued by scholars such as the honourable sheikh saleh al fawzan on this matter and their rulings must be obeyed. To protest for palestine is to engage in jahiliyah, and to boycott while living in a muslim country does nothing but cripple the pockets of muslim franchise owners, although boycotting in a non muslim country is permissible. For anyone curious I can provide the evidence I have received as well as the statements issued by scholars in regards to this matter wa bilahi tawfiq. Please excuse my writing if I have made any mistake as english is not my first language

I have never advocated protests... although I have a fatwa from Sheikh Uthaymeen where he suggests they're permissible in non-Muslim countries and honestly I'm not actually convinced that protests are haraam. this idea that protests are absolutely indisputably haraam seems a little convenient for the Saudi government and the names people use to defend this view tend to be names that are very buddy with that government.
But putting that to the side....

honestly- I think there should be some degree of separation and independence between THE SCHOLARS OF AHLUS SUNNAH and the Saudi government. conveniently, it is impossible for any scholar they imprison to be a SCHOLAR OF AHLUS SUNNAH because he is no longer upon the sunnah the moment they imprison him... audubillah.

I want to say directly- the idea that it is not permissible for any Muslim anywhere to boycott McDonalds is utter bogus. Nobody. Needs. Any permission from any government. To boycott McDonalds.
