That's the thing all cultural clothings around the world isn't modernised or developed by men. Tutsi women and arab women etc are the ones who modernised the mens attire for them. It's only recently that gay men took over in the west when it comes to the fashion industry.

Men aren't gonna in general put any effort into this stuff they will decide on what's already available. If it doesn't look good they will ditch it and adopt others stuff like the suit or arab wear.

If you have designer friends or friends that know people who make cloths for somali women or you do yourself then ask why they don't make things for somali men. Why are they halving there potential revenue.

But if the women won't show us no love then I'll have to do it myself in the future I'll probably invest into this market and capitalise on it myself at some point if its not done by the time I get round to it.

Exactly walaale, there is a huge opportunity here, turn it into a business!
In the meantime, brides should try to take control and help their husband-to-be, get his outfit right. It doesn't make sense for the bride to have 3 different traditional outfits and her husband is wearing Arab, Cadaan outfits.

I have seen people talk on it but no actual action. I saw a somali woman designer say she was going to do something about it but that hasn't gone anywhere and random guys making vids or tt on it talking about reviving it but no action just talk.

Nice dress shirt, cuff-links, traditional white macawiis and a nice shawl.
Simple, elegant, traditional.

1.Men don't have time to come up with an entire new outfit for a wedding day, its like making up a new trend just for your wedding, other outfits from other cultures are always reliable and we know they look good, but making a new outfit could flop
2the guys outfit in the picture is trash, the people around him look better dressed than him

Bro these guys are teenagers online who have no job, they can't get anything done and won't the only person who would help, is an ajnabi, I bet you, if there was a redesign of somali clothes, it would be fashioned and produced by ajnabis, and somalis would love it, because they have more likelihood to be designing outfits and mass producing them.

Also I think you could actually make a great outfit by trying yourself to make one, if you give yourself 4 months, and do research on somali outfits (because the stuff I have seen is too generic, like the thawbs they wore with that design is generic), find all the outfits they used to wear, use the outfit as a base, then create your own design, if an outfit is create, it must be a new design not seen before, men aren't good at fashion or making clothes in general, so although they could help suggest things, its actually women who are good at making clothes.

Tbh right now I think I could make up a design of the top of my head if π’π’šπ’’π’‚π’˜π’‚π’— π’Žπ’šπ’—π’—π’’ aka pweneth gatrow posted every documented type of somali outfit worn. You basically need to add a couple things to make it look banging and not boring

That was my point that its all talk but the interest is there and there was a designer xalimo that said she would make it but no word since.

I have an idea and there already are posts that have collected all these old pics but the issue is that the fit would be highly specialised and tailor made which would then make it harder to mass produced so I'm gonna make a really good one for myself for up to 1k and then see what I can do for a lot cheaper but would still look good and be practical. Not 2 cloths wrapped around like what is being suggested.

But your right I'm planning on going to an ajnabi trailor to get it done and eventually invest in somali women to mass produce it if it works out.

For now im gonna stick to thawbs

I think it is more of generational thing coz I have seen lot of young girls on Snapchat hiding their partners as well it is weird though, I think for him he doesn't want people to roast his wife looks or something
