Controversial question

Why do Somalis place such importants and take islam serious compared to other muslims like Turks, Indians and other african ethnic groups like Mandes,Serer or Yorubas as i see islam just a religion the Somali people adopted in the 7th century. I've observed this for a decade now please give your thoughts on this or is because Somali people adopted islam earlier before these ethnic groups i have mentioned
A question like this is weird because it implies that you should just follow others instead of following the religion.

So what if others follow the religion differently? Are we expected to just copy them? So if other Muslims abandoned Islam, Somalis should too? If someone jumps off a cliff, will you follow them? And piety cannot be judged by what you see on the outside anyway.

Just because someone appears to others as less religious doesn’t mean their faith is weak. For all you know the Arabs, North Africans, Turks, Asians and Black Africans could have more faith than you

The way other Muslims practice doesn’t matter to you in the hereafter. Your duty is of course, to correct them if they do wrong.

But is that what you will say to Allah, when he asks why you abandoned the religion he bestowed upon you? Will that be your excuse? “Everyone else was sinning and abandoning Islam so did I” brother there is only one place that will land you on judgement day and it is Jahannam.

Maybe because Ethiopians care more about their traditions, they were a powerhouse back in the day. Even if Islam took precedence over us we still kept out language unlike Sudan. So we should be happy with that although I wish arabicbwas our second language.
Why would it be our “second” language?

Somali has been the Sole Dominant and Undisputed Langauge of the Somali Peninsula since the very beginning, Arabic outside of Religious Context has no obligation nor reason.

Trade doesn’t require Arabic to be a second language, we speak Somali and Somali only with no Secondary or Tertiary language

Arabic as a second language is a good thing so people can understand the Quran more. I'm not talking about trade I'm talking about for religious reasons it should be a secondary language.

You don’t need to speak Arabic to understand the Quran, the Arabic of the Quran even slightly differs from Modern Arabic.

It should still be a requirement. What better way to reciting Allah eternal words while fully understanding what your reciting. If we have the opportunity to make Arabic a secondary language than we should implement it. Standard Arabic should be introduced so as to make it easier to learn the Quran. We should not be arrogant when it comes to the Arabc language.

How is me saying we shouldn’t have it as a second language arrogant?

We gave up our traditional monotheistic religion, we have preserved our language, culture, but Islam was just compatible with our belief systems, it's not like we imported a foreign culture, it was foreign for Arabs aswell, we got it right at the beginning and molded it to our culture in it's purest form.
Yeah if you look at the o
No offense Somalis have absolutely nothing to be proud of these past few decades other than being so “religious” that’s why they latching onto it so hard and so strict

And I mean personally I don’t have any problem with religion because religion can be a beautiful force of good (this is bolded for illiterate mfs who are waiting to get angry) but the way Somalis manifest their religiousness clearly isn’t an a wholesome, healthy and productive way bc instead of being secure in their faith and using it as a source of peace…… Somalis use faith as a tool for control and this never translates right in the real world because everyone’s interpretation and level of faith varies and thus it causes problems in that way.

And imo this is sourced from the civil war islam is the one thing that stopped Somalia from going back to the Stone Age and the sole reason Somalia isn’t running rampant with hiv and aids :Peaches3: :Peaches2:

Too many diaspora are not ready to accept that fact, without Islam somalia would have been cooked.

Look at other african nations in civil war like congo, we got off real easy since we have a religion that stops us from killing eachother as much.

Of course somalis are humans, and will just ignore rules when convenient, but its at a lower rate than athiests or christians.
