Not an expert on politics but I'm fairly certain a significant part of Somalia wanting to secede is something to confront. What is "my own people" anyways? Non-landers?
To be fair I don’t think that’s true.
I haven’t seen her degrade other clans specifically.

It’s an exaggeration but I called out every qabiilist on SSpot, even those from my tribe.
Darod ruled the government, the hawiye did a coup and started the war since they wanted a Hawiye cotrolled government, lots of clan fighting, isaaqs declared independence as "Somaliland"(not recognized).
Then al shabaab came along and fucked everything up even more, though that didn't happen till like the late 2000's.
In 2012 the Federal Government of Somalia was oficially formed and is the only internationally recognized government in Somalia. The FGS has been working to regain control of the country from terrorists for a little over a decade now.
Today the war is less about clan fighting and more about everyone fighting al shabaab(they control a large swath of the country but have been pushed out of basically all major cities), though clan skirmashes still happen.
This is a basic explanation and goes over lots of events(like the ethiopian invasion of Somalia, the temporary government set up before the FGS, etc), if I made any mistakes feel free to correct me.

That wasn’t a war, that was the Somali revolution.
The civil war started after Barre left, when USC couldn’t form a government and turned on each other.
Somali Civil war started in 1988 when the war on SNM insurgents turned into a large scale persecution of a significant group of the country's population in the North. Only biased people mark the fall of Siad's government as the starting point of the civil war.
For the first time, I find someone who wants a state regime to leave its regions separate to foucus on defeating al-shaydaan.
The separatist regime of Somaliland is a purely tribal system and was established to serve the interests of one tribe and the evidence of the isaaq militias in the (Sool iyo Sanaag) regions and the massacres they committed in an attempt to displace the population.
That’s a seperate conflict, same as the conflict against the SSDF.
That "conflict" fits the description of a civil war. Two common definitions of civil war
The war in the North was definitely the starting point of the civil war.
1988-1991(Barre ousted) was simply the first phase of the civil war, 1992-1994(Caydiids death) was second phase, 1995-2000(Abdiqasim enters Xamar), 2001-2005(ICU rises to power), 2006-2009(after the Ethiopian invasion Al-shabaab rises to power) and 2010-2012(FGS established in Xamar).
