Breaking News Civil war in Ethiopia

ethiopia should just sign a deal to fill the dam in egypt's preferred time in return for some weapons if they want to win this
Lol why would Egypt do that when they have the opportunity to split the country up Like Yugoslavia into many small weak countries. It is taste of their own medicine. Why do u think meles zenawi was so intent on implementing federalism in somalia

For tplf to have attacked Eritrea means they have full unequivocal support from either Sudan or Egypt probably both otherwise it’s a suicidal move.
Whatever u think about them these guys have balls.
I read this article seems like Sudan will play big role. It is a shame Ethiopia collapses now while Somalia is in such a bad state.
Perhaps egypt is helping in exchange for a base in tigray, which would be close enough for the egyptian air force to strike the dam? sudan could also give egypt a base, but maybe sudan doesn't want to anger ethiopia's powerful white friends/daddies-israel, us, uk, and others.
?

Lol why would Egypt do that when they have the opportunity to split the country up Yugoslavia style.
there's risks involved cuz 1) if its exposed they caused ethiopia to balkanize then it'll ruin their public standing and 2) its not a guaranteed success so theres a good chance they fail and have to deal with ethiopia filling the dam too quickly

Tigrays are going all out knowing that international community is watching and also the ethnic Muslim Eritreans are not happy with isaias and might see this as a opportunity. TPLF must have some sort of backing for them to do this

``In Sudan, a retired senior officer who was a member of the ELF told us that Isaias has been drafting additional military conscripts since October in different parts of Eritrea. He said some Eritrean soldiers—principally from the Beni Amer and related tribes—have refused to fight and defected into Kassala state in Sudan. This may indicate the unreadiness of at least some groups in the Eritrean Defense Forces to fight. In Kassala, Beni Amer—who are also present in Eritrea—are being roiled up to fight against Isaias’s regime.

Both the TPLF and Isaias see Kassala as their strategic backyard. The TPLF built relations with anti-Isaias groups among the Beni Amer in Kassala after the 1998-2000 Eritrean-Ethiopian war, and Isaias knows that any challenge for control of western Eritrea can come from Beni Amer allied with the ELF.

But an overthrow of Isaias in Eritrea could only realistically happen if Sudan’s military provides support to Eritrean opposition groups in Sudan, and only if the TPLF simultaneously advances into Eritrea—also with tacit Sudanese support.``

Are the tplf this strong?
They're strong, they have fighter jets and long distance missiles. Meles invested heavily in his people and region. But taking on Eritrea and Ethiopia simultaneously is too much for them but they sure can cause damage

Sounds like they are on a suicide mission.. But this could be a new opportunity for us Somalis if both these countries get weakened by civil war.. What's your opinion on the matter?

I think they're are banking on IC intervention, they want to enter the negotiations as equal partners. They can be taken serious if they cause damage.

Somalis have zero role in this, waa iska shacab. The president of the Somali region was donating blood, like he's shacab.

Damn.. But I hope this will have a positive change for us Somalis on the long term and I don't mean the Ogaden region but the whole of greater Somalia.

Who to support when both your enemies are fighting. Perfect opportunity for ONLF to secure a decentralized future for Ethiopia.

This thread is going bananas. It is no more focused on one subject, the current war in Tigray but is now about every politics of Ethiopia, religion and what not. That is not gonna work. Anyway, I came here just to remind you that I still stand by my prediction that the war would last 1-2 weeks (max 3 weeks) :ftw9nwa: Accordingly, I expect the army to enter Mekele, the capital of Tigray, next week. See you!
