Are we going to allow half Somalis to get Somali nationality? Should we differentiate between people who have a Somali father and people who have only a Somali mother ?
What about other Somalis from Ethiopia, Kenya, Djibouti or somaliland (if they get recognition) should they also be allowed Somali nationality because of their ethnicity?

What is your opinion on people who have a somalilander mother and a father from Somalia.
Do you consider them lander? If yes should these people be allowed to have somaliland citizenship? There is thousands of Somalis who have maternal lander ancestry but come from a qabil that lives in somalia.
How would you design somaliland citizenship law if you get recognition?

The main reason why automatic citizenship remains open to Somalis from Ethiopia & Kenya is because Somalia wants to keep the Somaliweyn dream alive by ensuring Somalis across the border maintain direct ties with the Mainland (Somalia).

For mixed children, If the abo is Somali they are Somali and should be given citizenship. Children with Somali mothers will be given special treatment but they are still not truly somali and should be treated as such.Ethnic Somalis from Djibouti ethopia etc should be given citizenship but not positions in politics as their loyalties may not align with the Somalis of Somalia

Anyone that wants Somali citizenship will have to stay in the country for over 5 years as long as any of the parents are Somali.

Non Somali immigrants could move to Somalia as long as they get the go ahead from two doctors and their families since I'm assuming assisted suicide is the only reason foreigners would want to move there.

How though? If I’m not mistaken Siad Barré relinquished Somali claims. That was the prerequisite for the peace treaties he signed with Kenya and Ethiopia.

Also it’s not fair to Somalis in Somalia who have to share their meager resources with Somalis who have greater opportunities in their respective countries Djibouti, Kenya and Ethiopia.

Why would anyone bother with the citizenship of a place that it’s own citizens are risking their lives to escape and flee from and cross dangerous borders, deserts and oceans to reach others? No one wants Somali citizenships and this includes even poor Africans. Why would a person born and raised in the western world want a Somali citizenship? Calm down people.

Right now we have too many problems. Somalia and Somaliland have to sort out their issues either by unification or separation. When that is done and a sense of normality has been restored through good governance we should adopt a strict policy when it comes to naturalization. Half castes with Somali mothers would then be able to apply for citizenship.

Yeah, I heard that Somalia citizenship can now be inherited through the mother. I saw something on it some time ago.

With that policy one would be depleting Somalis from those lands and perhaps Ethiopians might then move in and make it Ethiopian forever. Oromo Ethiopians already took over Dire Dawa that way.

Amharas and Oromos also took over Benishangul-Gumuz Region of Ethiopia through migrating there.
