Can Somalis build a new modern city like Egypt?

Be happy Somalia is not Egypt, that country is seriously overcrowded and will probably face revolts when climate change heats up the place plus Ethiopia will decrease the nile flow to Egypt. Our problems are trivial compared to what awaits Egypt.

Egypt is building a whole new capital city bigger than Singapore, with a central park 2x the size of the one in NYC, with a new large airport, a railway system. The new capital city will have 7 million residents.
And all of these new infrastructure will cost $58 billions.
If the city attracts 1 to 1.5 million investors, it will only cost us $250-400 a month for 10 years depending on how big, private, close to the centre/important locations you want your house to be.
We should stop wasting money on Nairobi, Turkey, South Africa, Tanzania when we can build our own Dubai in our country.
None of that matters when the concept of “urban planning” is entirely foreign to somalis.

There were urban settlements in Somalia for thousands of years (from Punt to Medival kingdoms) and no, they were not founded or built by Arabs/Persians 🙄
I think he meant modern urban settlements.

The majority of the settlements you are referring to are sadly lost to nomads. When the trading activities seized to exist for whatever reason, reer baadiyo take over the place. The rest is history.

Wtf nomadic lifestyle in 2030s?
Only technological advanced societies will be able to live a stable life in this climate change chaos.
Being low IQ nomad will be an easy ticket for extinction
Oh so you'd rather a mundane cubicle over a society where laughter and smiles is the currency and joy is the only objective?

Didn't they rob the sewages of xamar back in the 90s stole copper and stuff like that reer magaal are to lazy to build anything maybe the ajanabis will build a city for you

:hmm: :sass2::chrisfreshhah::chrisfreshhah:

Ordinary Somalis are too low class for this. It’ll be run down within a month

I think you're being far too pessimistic; ordinary people can definitely be taught how to maintain these homes -- and a certain standard of maintenance could be made to be a requirement for keeping the house.

Do you really think that Cadaans and Asians are naturally law abiding? We need to create a robust and balanced system of rewards and punishments.

Awkward considering u live in the west. Us sane people wish to see Somalis back home catch up and be competitive with the rest of the world.

U call endless famines "thriving?"

say wallahi kids are so out-of-touch :kodaksmiley:

Why don't you go back to Somalia & earn your smiles currency yourself and see if smiles can keep your belly full

I think he's trolling; no one could actually believe what he's spouting here.

If a smile isn't the appropriate attitude to bypass adversity do you reckon a frown is the expression?

building a new exclusive capital so peasants in Cairo can't topple the government with protests

The new capital city is actually within Cairo’s city limits.

OP is wrong, it’s not a new city but actually a new district in Cairo. I was literally there.

The city of Cairo has around 10 million residents, it's metro area has 20 million people.

The reported statistics are known to be dodgy. Ask a Cairo resident and they’ll tell you the number is at least double.
