Cameroonian company 'Grass Fields' appropriates Somali Diracs/Baatis

wait for them to market it real hard,

let them do the hard work and make it famous, then remind the world its somali and bring to the market much more stylish cheaper ones with really gorgeous somali girls as models

use their tactic against them, every one knows diraac is somali

Dirac is a Yemeni dress that Somalis copied.

Dirac only became popular in Somalia during the 1970s.

Imagine hating on other people for something that isn't even ours, Ceeb.

Dear Grass Fields,

We are potential customers who have followed you on social media. We were excited to support Black owned brands until we realised that you have been stealing and appropriating our culture for profit.

We have seen the "kaftans" you are selling and recognise them to be DIRACS and BAATIS from the Somali ethnic group.
We saw you claim they are "BooBoos", upon researching we realise your claim is entirely false.

Please rectify this matter by giving us our credit for OUR creations.

We wish you all the best,

The Somali Community.

I didn’t know Dirac isn’t a Somali attire originally. You learn new things everyday. We definitely rep it more than anyone though what happened to Yemenis did they drop their own Dirac attire for more arab-ish clothing ?

Let them take it. This is haram clothing. Women should be wearing abaya. If it was food like the Israelis stealing hummus and falafel it would be a different story.
