They are the most gender-equal and liberal group of people out there. Hell, their women are mandem in spirit, not much unlike ours.

Religious conservatives and the deen is the only thing that stops us from descending into sub-human barbarity. Without it, Somalia would be Jamaica meets Thailand, and the Somali diaspora would be no different than the Afro-Caribbean communities in the West, if not outright worse.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out how much worse it would be with approval from the community. You're lying to yourself if you think we wouldn't be carbon copies of demographically similar communities.

You can be irreligious and behave well, but Islam categorically disavows plenty of poor behaviour that would otherwise completely overrun the community. Blatantly, it doesn't stop many from still participating, but you're being disingenuous by implying it doesn't leash the lower common denominators. It's not about individual behavior, but the collective behavior of the community. People still sin, but it's better to sin in private than public because the latter erodes those around you.

South Asians and Arabs are very connected to their culture and do not suffer from identity issues as much as Somalis do and from my anecdotal experiences are more monogamous hence more money. They also have a more hands on parenting strategy than somalis who still use the hands off aproach.

The war has also had an effect on people and has led a lot of somalis growing up to develop self hatred and identity issues. Somalis that suffer from identity crises tend to gravitate towards more radical idealogies like SJW types and wahabism.

Somali women in the past grew up walking around without hijabs where as now women are forced to wear niqabs. This much change in such a short amount of time has had an effect on the way the sexes interact and has bred more extremism in both directions.

Liberalism is not the problem here.
Asking for equal womens rights does not equal SJW behavior that leads to sub-human barbarity. Liberals arent blowing themselves up and killing innocents, its Wahabis.
