Probably they will leave the space for it but highly unlikely, railways cost billions to build especially in a big country like somalia
I think that space will be reserved for highways tbh. We need big asphalt roads going to the city since warshiekh is quite far from xamar about 61km in between.

railways will happen in the far future hopefully. For now, I would love to see how this city planning will look like

Ghana just announced its new train systems and it looks really nice. I genuinely thought this was another country. Insha Allah Somalis can one day implement something like this

Damn its literally exactly the same as the RER trains in France, but it does look nice, I like the color, a white train with blue decals would look really good

Yes it costs Kenya 5 billion of loans from the China Exim bank they pay around 400 million a year with interest but the worst part is that nearly no one uses it and not enough freight goes through it so they make negative profits from it on top of the interest, useless megaproject I think they just built it to flex honestly

These projects are amazing but demand and whether the population can use it must also be considered otherwise it would be a vanity project. Like @Barkhadle1520 said, Kenya pays $400 million a year but barely anyone uses it. Its like building highways when a large portion of the population do not own a vehicle.

But our economy is built different so inshallah we'll have a train system in the future. Imagine a developed Mogadishu, Garowe, Hargeisa, Kismayo, Berbera, Bosaso, and many other Somali cities all interconnected by modern railway system and local transit buses, that sounds amazing.

Thats because all the wealth, economy and population is concentrated in Nairobi so it makes no sense for Kenya, most SSA countries are like this

As I said in Somalia each state works as their own small country and have their own cities and economies so it would make perfect sense connecting those states with each others and with the capital city, if this ever happens it will trigger a huge economic boom guaranteed but it needs huge upfront investment from the government and maintenance, theres also many other things that need to be built before we start thinking about that

People were hating on this decentralized government structure (including myself) but Alhamdullilah it worked out great for us, and more and more people are starting to realize this. Cant wait for the real economic numbers to come out in the coming years and shock global economists. They will have little reason to continue portraying us as the poster child for how not to run a country. We could easily become top economies in Africa within the next 5-10 years.
