I think Djibouti has the most Arabs in Somaliweyn. The next few decades will be interesting as they have children with locals and their Arab descendants assimilate, I wonder if a new Arabic-Somali dialect will emerge? Kinda like how Darija is supposedly a mix of Tamazight/Amazigh and Arabic.

Darija being “mixed” is actually a hoax. It’s really just an Arabic dialect like any other.
The one thing that might get people confused is it has innovations that are restricted to the Maghreb whereas middle eastern dialects share far more things. (ك or ت instead of the usual ب in the rest of the Arab world. ن prefix for first person singular conjugation and the addition of و in the plural form…)

There’s also the pronounciation, which one could argue is really affected by Tamazight.

Exposure definitely plays a lot into it. Egyptian Arabic is widely understood due to it, not because it’s more of a pristine Arabic dialect than others. I have to say that the more I spend time with my Maghrebi friends, the easier it is for me to get them. Even more than I’d understand Iraqis tbh.
