The ones I’ve seen tend to be pretty short for some reason. Maybe it’s the Arab genes at play?

Yes it's true, my mother side of the family is incredibly short. My siblings and my dad are not even tall by somali standards (5'11), but are way taller than all the males on mums side

great food and friendly people, there was this banadiri woman who was our neighbour she was married to an ethnic somali and her somali was great no strong dialect and the kids had good deen knowledge. On the internet some are ashamed of who they are and just claim arab(same goes for barwanis) makes them look like selfhaters since arabs dont want them.

Well I think immigrant populations from Yemen, Oman, Iran and India who eventually mixed with the local native somalis and some bantus
